As-salam-u-'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa barakatuh, fellow Muslims, I recently read writings on The Majlis website, and really got moved by Mufti sahabs argument, particularly the example about adding very little wine(ethanol) in water. On the contrary I read some fatawa about soft drinking being halaal. In one of them it was told to the questioner, about permissibility if non-khamr and non-intoxicant. I am confused about it.
What do brothers here do?

Wassalam.

Actually what I am confused about is that there are many scholars who regard it permissible(halaal), but few who render it unlawful(haraam)

  1. Read this blog
  2. Then establish that these drinks contain Alcohol (in your country)
  3. Then discuss Fatwaas

TITLE: GC instrument did not detect alcohol in Coca Cola, Pepsi & 7 UP

GC INSTRUMENT DIDNOT DETECT ALCOHOL IN COCA-COLA, PEPSI & 7 UP

Muslim Consumer Group is the first Muslim consumer organization who spent money to conduct alcohol analysis of soft drinks in the USA.

Muslim Consumer Group asked Northland Laboratories (Northbrook, IL), one of the top food analysis laboratories in USA, to buy Coca-Cola, Pepsi and 7 up from the supermarket to analyze alcohol content by using the official method of AOAC (Association of Official Analytical Chemists) number 973.23 Modified on the Gas Chromatography instrument.

Northland Lab did not find any alcohol peak on the chromatograph and reported the following results.

Name of Analyte: Alcohol by Gas Chromatography Instrument

Unit: Percent By Volume

Sample Description   Result

Coca-Cola 2 Liter

Yes brother that's true, and after going through a quick read through the threads, I am still confused.
I think particularly sprite or 7up should be discussed, because that is what I like.

This section doesn't allow us to discuss such issues.

Please continue on another thread.

جزاك الله خيرا

By the way, sprite and 7UP are halal, as well as Coke, Pepsi and so on.
