Saudi barred Iranian plane from entering airspace

Staff writer, Al Arabiya News
Thursday, 9 April 2015

Saudi authorities did not allow an Iranian plane carrying 260 pilgrims to the kingdom from entering airspace because the aircraft did not have prior permission, Kuwait’s state-run news agency (KUNA) reported.

The planed was banned “because there is not permission issued by the authority that allows the plane to fly into Saudi Arabia, which is a procedure followed by international regulations,” the Saudi Public Authority for Civil Aviation said.

Khaled al-Khubairi, the authority’s spokesman, said the airplane should have obtained the permission in advance for the sake of the safety of its passengers.

Iranian authorities have not yet responded to the incident.

Electronic monitoring of pilgrims' buses planned

Thursday, 09 April 2015

JEDDAH — The Ministry of Haj will monitor the movement of buses transporting pilgrims electronically, according to the ministry's undersecretary for development projects.

"The ministry is using the latest technology to run its activities especially the electronic monitoring of the movement of buses transporting pilgrims," Suhail Al-Sabban said.

He said the move necessitates the production of an electronic digital map for Makkah, Madinah, the holy sites and Jeddah which is the gate to the Two Holy Mosques.

Al-Sabban said the ministry has developed a geographical database for the holy sites from the data available in the municipalities of Makkah, Madinah and Jeddah.

"We have also built a geographical database for the holy sites of Mina, Arafat and Muzdalifah showing vacant areas and the location of tents for the pilgrims," he said.

Al-Sabban said an electronic map is ready to be used in guiding buses transporting pilgrims, pinpointing their exact locations, speed and other matters.

"The map will also be used to guide lost pilgrims find their tents. It will also show the locations of important service utilities such as hospitals and police stations," he said.

Al-Sabban said an electronic device, which has been developed with the help of King Abdul Aziz City for Science and Technology, will be planted in 15,000 buses starting the upcoming Haj season to indicate their whereabouts, speed and any technical problems that drivers may face.

"This device will make it easy for the operations room to manage the Haj transport services and inform drivers about busy streets and traffic jams," he said.

The undersecretary said in addition to the buses, trains will also be used to transport pilgrims between Makkah and the holy sites.

He said since the trains will transport pilgrims between railway stations only, pilgrims will need to use buses to reach their final destinations.

He said buses will shuttle as many as 44,000 pilgrims an hour especially during the time of the assent from Mina to Arafat then Muzdalifah and back to Mina.

Asians and Africans habits at Arafat holy site
____________________________________________________

Ritual pilgrims on Jabal al Rahmah (Mount of Mercy)
invitations written and pictures thrown request for forgiveness

"سبق" ترصد عادات آسيويين وأفارقة وصلوا لمشعر عرفات قبل الوقفة
طقوس حجيج على جبل الرحمة.. دعوات مكتوبة وصور تُرمى طلباً للمغفرة

Jabal al Rahmah, in Arafat
Article published during Hajj Season 2014
2 October 2014

Number of pilgrims rushed Asia and Africa time and set off this morning to Arafat did not stop before settling on the Mount of Mercy, where habits vary depending on the countries from which they came.

And those strange customs vary between photo mode and leaving it there for the blessing or write their names, or special prayers on the rocks, thinking his response immediately after the end of the holy days of Hajj.

Put a picture
At the summit of Mount Mercy puts the number of pilgrims image or picture one of his relatives at the pillar located in the Mount of Mercy of the pond, where one of the pilgrims of South Asia, said the "already" That's sometimes a person is sick and pray to God to heal him, and seek blessing this place who stood with him Messenger God's peace be upon him, and added, "there are others who are putting their image asking God for forgiveness so that the image remains in this holy place throughout the year."

The purpose of marriage
One woman said, preferring not to be named: The majority of girls come here in order to be blessed and asked to marry, the beliefs that Adam met Eve peace be upon him in this spot, and if they pray for this place will come to share and get married.

Name inscription
Spotted "already" a number of engraved names on the stones and other writing their names, and when asked about the reason for that, Alhaji Abu Fahim said: "We are writing our names as a kind of anniversary and blessed name in this place in the Mount of Mercy in order that God have mercy on us above and below ground after death .

Legitimate opinion
A member of Saudi Society for doctrine and religions, sects and creeds, Dr. Ibrahim ibn Muhammad al-Zubaidi's "above" that some pilgrims do filming themselves at Mount Mercy and write their names on the stones and took some stones with them and blessed them, and do some women who are not married to take these stones and blessed by God and allege Mtoslat those stones, the beliefs that Adam met Bhawwae then and allege that Azojhen God and facilitates the guardians, the fads that have not proceed, because these stones are not the advantage of her and not of asceticism what they are doing then, it may even lead to shirk if they believe that those Stones benefit without God.

Why there is a pillar on Jabal Al Rahmah?

What is the significance?

10 April 2015

On the web, I found 5 different reasons why there is a pillar on Jabal Al Rahmah, in Arafat:

1- to denote the place where the Prophet (saw) stood for his last Sermon

2- to denote the place where Adam and Hawa(Eve) meet

3- to help to locate Jabal al Rahmah in the Arafat valley

4- the pillar is a satanic obelisk installed by the Saudi/wahabis

5- to denote the point where Adam (as)’s repentance was accepted.
The pillar was erected to remind everyone of this great event a
nd remind us that Allah is the most merciful

What is the true reason?

If you have the right information by links, fatwas, texts by scholars/muftis, etc...

PLEASE SHARE IT ... in the thread open

Yemen operation ‘protects holy land from foes of Islam’

Operation Decisive Storm against the Houthi militia is an obligatory duty of those who defend the two holy mosques as Yemen is a land of Islamic faith and wisdom, said Imam and khatib at Makkah’s Grand Mosque Sheikh Saud Al-Shoraim on Friday.
“When the forces of the land of the two holy mosques launched Decisive Storm, their fury was rooted in wisdom, sagacity and patience,” Sheikh Shoraim said in the weekly sermon.

“The discerning society does not differentiate between internal and external enemies. Defensive moves against enemies are of the most obligatory duties of the rulers and people. Envious people and hate mongers will only dispute the steps taken to ensure security. It is a blessing that a community is spared from a war and it calls for gratitude to Allah because it is a special mercy,” Al-Shoraim said.

He added that the Ahl Al-Sunna Wal Jamaah (the Muslims) believe in appointing a leader who takes care of their rights and protects their religion, and defends them from their enemies.

He said Decisive Storm basically aims to protect the land of the two holy mosques from the enemies of Islam and also the people of the country where the mosques belong. He added that enemies also aim to destroy the real Islamic belief, values and sacred symbols.

“There are some people who do not want Decisive Storm to succeed, either because of their envy or hatred.”

Meanwhile, at the Prophet's Mosque, imam and khatib Sheikh Abdul Bari Al-Thobaity said that the strength of Shariah is that it is a tool to bring justice, and not a goal in itself, while it boosts the pillars of peace.

Decisive Storm is an expression of the hopes of Yemenis and was launched in response to their request for help,” Al-Thobaity said in his sermon.
The imam added that history has shown that decisiveness is the mark of unique leaders especially against a treacherous people. He pointed out that within the decision to launch Decisive Storm as an operation to support the principles of Islam and justice in Yemen, Arab leaders are following the model of the last Prophet (peace be upon him), who demolished the Mosque of Sedition, which served as a den for the plotters against Islam.

The sheikh also lauded the decisiveness displayed by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman in launching Decisive Storm to support Islam and elevate the word of the Muslims, and to establish the rights of the Muslims in Yemen when a group of people started spreading bidaa (prohibited innovations in religious matters) and undertaking misleading acts by rebelling against their ruler and killing people, and destroying mosques and homes under false slogans.

Grand mufti denies fake fatwa

Friday 10 April 2015

Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Asheikh has denied issuing a fatwa that states it is permissible for a starving man to save himself by eating the flesh of a woman.

In a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency on Thursday, Al-Asheikh said the religious edict was false and created by Islam’s enemies to slander him and “keep the community busy squabbling over irrelevant issues instead of standing united behind the rightly guided rulers.”

“The fatwa attributed to us is wrong. It is nothing but lies ... It has been circulated to distort the image of Islam, which has elevated and granted a dignified status to men and women without exceptions ...”

He quoted a verse from the Holy Qur’an to support his argument: “Oh you who believe, if an unrighteous man brings you news, look carefully into it, lest you harm a people out of ignorance, and then regret it.”

The sheikh said Muslims must stay united against their common enemy and ignore attempts aimed at undermining their commitment to protect themselves and their countries.

Grand Mosque expansion
project in final stages

Work on the expansion of the mataaf (circumambulation area) and the northern arena
of the Grand Mosque is in its final stages, and is expected to be completed by Ramadan
Sunday, 12 April 2015

MAKKAH — The expansion of the mataaf (circumambulation area) and the northern arena of the Grand Mosque is in its final stages, said Sultan Al-Qurashi, General Director of Projects at the General Presidency of Grand Mosque and Prophet’s Mosque Affairs.

He added the expansion project of the two mosques has been expedited to ensure the completion of the project before Ramadan.

We completed the base of the two lighthouses of Al-Umrah gate at the Grand Mosque. We renovated the pillars of the northern arena and Al-Mikbariyah (adhan chamber) north of the mataaf,” said Al-Qurashi.

“Our contracting company has instructed all of its engineers, technicians and construction workers to complete the job. They are working around the clock nonstop as we expand the northern arena of the Grand Mosque and the mataaf,” he added.

The mataaf expansion project began in 2012 and the first year saw the expansion of Al-Safa to Al-Fatih gates. The second year involved the expansion of Al-Fatih to Al-Umrah gates.

“We are currently in its third and final year and we have expanded up to King Abdulaziz gate. We have completed the ground floor and are currently working on the first floor of the mataaf,” said Al-Qurashi.

He added the renovation and expansion work included the reinstallation of new marble floors and pillars.

“We even built an entire floor for wheelchair-bound users and pilgrims with special needs. We changed the electro mechanic network of all the floors,” he said.

New Madinah Airport

New Madinah airport’s test operations launched

Monday, 13 April 2015

MADINAH — A Saudi Arabian Airlines domestic flight coming from Riyadh landed at 11 a.m. Sunday at the new Prince Muhammad Bin Abdul Aziz International Airport in Madinah, marking the start of the airport’s test run operations.

Flight SV1435 was the first to land at the airport. Another aircraft, flight SV1476, then took off at 11:45 a.m., the first ever to take off from the new facility. The trial operations were to start last week but were postponed by a sandstorm that hit various parts of the country and led to the suspension of domestic and international flights.

Most of the flights will be operating from the new airport while some will be operating from the old premises, as both the facilities will be operational with the passengers intimated which airport they would be landing or taking off.

“We want the test run to be a complete success,” the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) said.

GACA said the trial operation of the airport would run for a limited period of time until its formal launch. “The test run aims to assess the readiness of all systems, tools and organs as a prelude for the commercial operation of the airport, which will have an annual capacity of 8 million passengers in the first phase,” GACA said.

A number of government and private bodies have already established their offices and branches in the airport as part of preparations for its official launch. Officials of these organizations said the airport has been built according to the highest international standards and specifications that will facilitate the arrival and departure of passengers.

Saudia, on its part, said it has completed the establishment of its offices and supplied it with the required cadres to process the passports of passengers.

Abdul Fattah Mohammed Atta, director of the new airport, said the facility would serve residents, visitors and pilgrims.

The airport, occupying an area of 4 million square meters, has been built at a cost of about $1.4 billion. It consists of arrival and departure lounges built on an area of 153,000 square meters. It has 16 gates connected to 32 jet bridges allowing passengers to board and disembark from aircraft without having to go outside. The director said the airport's current annual capacity is 8 million passengers, a figure that will increase to 12 million when it is officially inaugurated.

He added that the airport could receive up to 160 aircraft of various types every day and provide passengers with top services. The airport has 64 travel desks that will increase by a further 16 during the peak times in Ramadan and Haj. It has 10 luggage conveyors. The airport has six waiting halls with a combined area of 10,500 square meters and a parking lot for 200 Haj buses.

The airport's building has obtained the internationally recognized certificate of Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED). It was the first airport outside the US to obtain this high rating.

Our SLOT and CAFI (Catch Actual Flight Information) products have become the latest success stories at the airport, where more than ten aviation systems, which were created and developed by TAV IT engineers, are utilized. We would like to use CAFI, which automatically defines the names of aircraft within the air spaces and transfers this information to the related airports, at different airports in the future as our copyrighted product.

The seasonal congestion at Madinah Airport, particularly during the Hajj period, will be managed in the best way thanks to our SLOT solution. We will provide benefits in the sector via our experiences from the projects we have managed so far. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all my colleagues who contributed to the project. I hope we will achieve many successful projects together."

Haramain Railway ready for trial run

Monday, 13 April 2015

DAMMAM — A trial run of the Haramain Express Railway will be conducted soon on the sector between Madinah and the King Abdullah Economic City in Rabigh, Al-Madina Arabic daily reported Sunday.

The high-speed train will link Makkah and Madinah through Jeddah and will also operate between Madinah and Rabigh. “The trial run will continue until summer at a speed reaching 300 km an hour,” said Chairman of the Saudi Railway Organization (SRO) Mohammed Al-Suwaiket.

He said the first train had already arrived in the Kingdom consisting of two locomotives, 13 carriages accommodating up to 417 passengers and a pantry car. “This is the biggest railway project in the history of he Kingdom,” Al-Suwaiket said, adding both the SRO and the Transport Ministry were determined to implement the leadership’s ambitions to provide fast and safe means of transport to pilgrims and residents.

He said the electricity-powered train will cross a distance of 453 km an hour and will be equipped with modern signals and communications systems. “The experimental operations are also meant to check the trains and high-speed railway’s durability in the hot and humid climate and also during sandstorms,” he said.

The train will cross the distance between Jeddah and Makkah in 30 minutes and the distance between Makkah and Madinah in two and a half hours.

Al-Suwaiket said the project consists of the construction of a training center in Dammam at a cost of about SR30 billion.

No Zamzam water without passport

AUTHENTIC: The official Zamzam water booth at Jeddah's King Abdulaziz International Airport.
Sunday 12 April 2015

Zamzam water has a special place in the hearts of Muslims as something revered and unique. Every year millions of pilgrims travel to Saudi Arabia for Umrah and Haj from outside and inside the country.

Many Muslims drink Zamzam as sacred water that can cure their health problems, but sometimes pilgrims and those who live inside the Kingdom are cheated by illegal venders who sell Zamzam after mixing it with other water and charging extra.

To stop this illegal activity, the National Water Company, under the King Abdullah Project for Zamzam, started supplying packaged and sealed Zamzam at the airports so pilgrims can take it with them according to rules set by civil aviation authorities to allow only five-liter bottles available for SR9 each.

Travelers and pilgrims can purchase the water at the airport but they have to show their passport to purchase Zamzam water and only one bottle per passport is allowed.

Jeddah resident Hasan Ahmed told Arab News that recently Makkah police raided a factory which used to bottle and market regular tap water as Zamzam. After reading a number of fake Zamzam water stories on social media, he decided to buy packaged Zamzam from the airport as it is officially packaged by the National Water Company.

“I went to buy Zamam at the airport but was dismayed because the man at the booth refused to sell me the water unless I showed him my passport. As I was not a traveler I did not have my passport with me,” said Ahmed.

Another domestic pilgrim, Hafiz Abdulrhman, said he could carry Zamzam water from Makkah but the airline will not allow him to check it in as it is not sealed or boxed.

“I came from Riyadh without my passport. In such a situation, I am unable to take any Zamzam back as they ask for passport. As for the one Zamzam bottle per passport — it is not fair. Before, pilgrims were allowed 10 liters and now they can carry only five liters. Many come here only once in their lives,” he said.

Iran suspends Hajj, Umrah to Muslim
holy places in Saudi Arabia

13 April 2015

Iran has suspended pilgrimages to the Muslim holy places in Saudi Arabia in protest at an alleged sexual assault attempt against two teenage Iranian boys, the culture minister said on Monday.

According to Iranian media reports, two Saudi police are alleged to have attempted to assault the youngsters at Jeddah airport as they prepared to fly home from a pilgrimage to Mecca and Medina two weeks ago.

In addition to the annual hajj, which was held most recently last October, Muslims also undertake the lesser pilgrimage or umrah throughout the year.

"I have ordered the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organisation to suspend the lesser pilgrimage until the criminals are tried and punished," Culture Minister Ali Jannati told state television.

All pilgrimages by Iranians to the Muslim holy places fall under the organisation's auspices and each year around 500,000 perform the umrah.

President Hassan Rouhani tasked Jannati with drawing up a response amid a mounting outcry in Iran over the allegations.

Hundreds demonstrated outside the Saudi embassy in Tehran on Saturday.

"Considering what has happened, Iranians' dignity has been damaged and a public demand has formed," the minister said.

Jannati said the Saudi authorities had arrested the two police officers at the centre of the allegations.

"We have spoken to Saudi officials through diplomatic channels and they have promised to punish the persons in custody," he said.

"They even asserted that they would execute them but nothing has been done in reality so far."

The outcry over the allegations comes with relations between Shiite Iran and Sunni Saudi Arabia already tense over the Saudi-led air war against Shiite rebels in Yemen.

Tehran has condemned the Saudi-led campaign and has strongly denied Riyadh's accusations that it has armed the rebels.

Iran Suspends Umrah Hajj Pilgrimage
after Abuse Case at Saudi Airport
April 13, 2015

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran suspended the Umrah (minor) Hajj pilgrimage on Monday in the wake of molestation of two Iranian teenage pilgrims at Jeddah airport, saying the situation will be normalized once Riyadh hands out the maximum punishment to the offenders.

Speaking to Tasnim on Monday, Spokesman for Iran's Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization Hossein Noushabadi said the decision to halt the religious trips was made on the president's order.

There will be a moratorium on sending pilgrims to Umrah Hajj until the Jeddah airport's criminal officers are punished, Noushabadi added.

The Umrah is a pilgrimage to Mecca performed by Muslims and can be undertaken at any time of the year in comparison with the major hajj pilgrimage which is performed annually within a specific period of time.

Elsewhere, the Iranian official expressed the hope that the Saudis would honor their pledge to give the molesters the maximum punishment, saying that the mere apprehension of the perpetrators is not enough.

In a Saturday letter to the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Ali Jannati, President Rouhani tasked the country’s officials at the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization and the Foreign Ministry to stay in touch with the Saudi officials and pursue the case seriously.

He also called on the Iranian officials to make sure that the offenders are punished and the security of the Iranian pilgrims are guaranteed.

The two Iranian teenage boys were harassed by the Saudi officers at Jeddah's King Abdulaziz International Airport when the offenders took them away during body search, citing suspicion.

Iran suspends Umrah flights over abuse charge
13 April 2015

Iran has suspended flights to Saudi Arabia for the year-round Umrah Islamic pilgrimage over allegations that Saudi security officers assaulted two Iranian boys, Culture Minister Ali Jannati said on Monday.

The move is likely to deepen tensions between the two regional powers, who are at odds over the war in Yemen.

The teenage boys alleged last week that the officers abused them while conducting a security search at Jeddah airport.

"Until these guilty people are put on trial and punished, the Umrah will be stopped and Iranian flights will be suspended," the Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA) cited Jannati as saying.

The boys were returning to Tehran from the Umrah, a pilgrimage to Makkah that can be undertaken at any time of the year other than during the Haj.

Several hundred protesters marched on the Saudi embassy in Tehran on Saturday, despite a ban on public demonstrations.

Jannati said the Saudi authorities had arrested the perpetrators and promised to punish them, ISNA reported. - Reuters
