Asalaamu Alaikum, This is a long post. I am desperate for help.

Sometimes, I suffer from a great deal of wind. Meaning, that sometimes, I have to repeat Wudhu several times when praying my salaah. Sometimes, I repeat it once, sometimes twice, sometimes three times, or even more. Sometimes, I spend a long time repeating Wudhu and prayer (Several times over the course of an hour, two hours for example) and sometimes, I am fine and can pray calmly and normally with one Wudhu.

This happens even when I pray only the Fardh portion of the Salah.

The problem is that this problem is random, it happens suddenly and can happen at any time and it is difficult to know when the problem will start and when it will finish. Often, this problem only arises when I am praying/doing Wudhu, so it is difficult to know if I will be able to keep my Wudhu. Also, I can be fine afterwards, and the gas issues seem to stop. The way I am explaining, It may seem to you to be Waswasah, but I feel and hear something pass (vibrations, noises and sometimes gas passing as anyone would know that they have passed wind). Because this issue has been going on for several years, I get nervous and stressed, which I think just makes the physical problems worse.

In addition, sometimes I can pray a few prayers (Fardh prayers. For example, Zuhr, and Asr) without having this problem.

I have had different responses. Some say that I can do one Wudhu, others say that it has to be continuous to the point where one prayer time has to pass with me being unable to perform Wudhu and pray. Others say that if it is intermittent, then I just have to wait until it stops, this means that I may have to perform Wudhu several times over the course of an hour, two hours etc.

What is the ruling in this case? Must I just keep performing Wudhu? Or is it permissible for me to do Wudhu once and pray my Salaah. Please provide evidence from Quran and Hadith. Please reply as soon as possible as this is a serious concern for me.

I am looking for a full time Job and need to know what the ruling in my case is. At the moment, I am sometimes repeating Wudhu until the problem stops and other times, just doing Wudhu once and praying, even if something comes out. I feel really uncomfortable doing this and would like your advice, InshaAllah. I also now find it difficult to differentiate between Waswasah and real wind due to both being very similar. I hear the sound of wind, or hear something coming out as I feel it. Do you think these sounds of wind passing are also Waswasah?

JazakAllah Khair

السلام عليكم

InshaAllah someone will address to the fiqh side of this matter.

As for combating Wasawasa... Please read this small booklet... Its by the late Maulana Yunus Patel saheb. Its a great book, Alhamdulillah it has helped me a lot in dealing with waswasa.

JazakAllah Khair brother, I have read these before. With regards to the first one, it seems a bit contradictory to other Fatawa that they have given. Usually they say that the problem must continue for the entire duration of the prayer time, but in that query, they say that a person who performs Wudhu several times for one prayer is regarding as an excused person. This is why I am confused.

Wa'alaykum assalam, brother, have you tried yoghurt or lassi. masha'Allah it is effective to reduce such problems.

Also I notice that if I drink water during a meal it occurs often. Try drinking before the meal, in 3 or more breaths.
insha'Allah it will be a means of cure.

and only Allah Ta'ala knows best.

Yes, I've had a Colonoscopy which turned out nothing wrong, seen 2 GP's and two bowel/colon specialists. One GP said it could be a slightly lazy bowel and some IBS but they're just not sure.

Try this method for wudu; whenever you break wudu immediately make wudu. Be always in wudu state - dont lose patience keep making wudu, in 2 months you will feel great.

Recite more istighfar to overcome waswasa
