This thread might not make some ppl happy. First of all let's put the benefit of SF aside as that's clear and it's not my question.
I have noticed some seriously damaged members of SF. Not mentally damaged or anything but from the posts and the attitude towards many many subjects which is very opposite of what I'm used to seeing on this site.
So I want to know from former SF regulars if SF has done more damage to neutral members than we realise. I notice how rules don't mean much to some and the same things repeat every couple of days. Then there's that seriously weird member who got banned recently and started posting as guest going on about how this site sucks and how he wishes SF comes back soon. I wonder why he kept coming back here but anyway, that along with with other things I've mentioned makes me wonder if the way SF ran was more damaging than is evident. All I seem to read now is arguments, refutations and attacks. Maybe even those who take part in this don't realise if they were like that from before or after becoming a regular on SF.
Please feel free to disagree. I was registered on SF too but it was too high paced for me and most subjects were beyond my understanding anyway.
I know replies will be about the benefit so I repeat my first line "First of all let's put the benefit of SF aside as that's clear and it's not my question."
There was certainly more 'good' than 'harm' in SF.Some members were very gifted and we constantly learned from them.Dr76,Maripat,FususAlHikam are just a few names to mention.London786 may also be added to the list. What you call 'arguments' were healthy debates in a more free atmosphere. It is a shame that SF is no more...it was an asset.
Such forums are meant to encourage debates, one should not take it as a negative attribute.Indeed all the debates and arguments must be within the accepted limits of decency....and therefore must be regulated by the administration...but never in a dictatorial way.SF was intellectually on a very high level indeed.
No,I don,t think any harm occurred to us due to SF.....ON THE, OTHER HAND WE LEARNED A LOT FROM SF..,and we will always be grateful for it.As for refutations...please read the most recent post of brother Muad khan regarding Amir Liqat.Irrespective of whether brother Muad is right or wrong about him....I have never seen such a strong language on SF against any one ( Ref : Thread about Tahir Al Qadri ).
"I loathe, hate, despise, dislike, detest and resent Amir Liaqat Hussain. I genuinely hold this excrement in utter contempt and disgust. I serious abhor this abomination (in the form of a human) and I have genuine ill feelings of revulsion and repugnance towards the ideas which he represents."
After reading the above statement, how can you say that it was "ONLY SF" which caused Harm to its members ?

Tell me about it! And to think they are one of us, creepy!
I was a member on SF for a long time too, but honestly, I found it so peaceful here that I just couldn't leave. The hospitality was and is still great.
I couldn't do so much on SF, in fact I would post certain links on SF since I noticed that people's posts were being deleted, particularly on Hijamah. One day I posted a link from here and said to the member if they wanted good info, they should visit the MS thread. And guess what, it got deleted too.
Well that proves the mods were active (silent but deadly) whereas here we are loud and lively, Alhumdulillah.

If you mean here, then I think so. People are being stalked, comments are being made that alhumdulillah we don't let others see. People are nit picking too much. As I said, this place was really calm. If I was a silent reader and only using it for benefit, I would've stopped ages ago as the peace is no longer.
We started a private debates section for the Salafi brothers who MashaAllah did well, taught us a few things and left in their own time. But know, its like the debates section is all the MS is being used for.
I love the SF migrants for the sake of Allah, but they know deep down if they are causing fitnah or are just being plane silly.
Previously I would only have to log on to see if anything needed authorising etc, but now its like every few minutes an email alert pops up, Takfeer - Slander- Gheebah - Breach of Rules - You're turning a blind eye - We have double standards and so on.
Sometimes it feels like I'm on Whatsapp, with non stop beep beep tones.
We, especially the Admins have done so much to make this site perfect and made it such that every user feels like it was made for them. What's in it for me? Nothing in the Dunya! I don't get anything, but I want to give to members what they cant get on other forums, an efficient, reliable source of Islamic information, help when they needed. UNLIKE my experience on SF. I would say I stopped posting on SF due to retirement. Non stop chaos, yet at the same time, Alhumdulillah some very great threads.
I know SF members have disagreed with me, but I know as an SF member too. Derailment was the aim for some (not all)

You obviously don't know Mr Liaqat!
And on the light side, our own Muadh is also from SF, so I guess he's.....Well he is originally from SF anyway :)

I also have to disagree with your words "the hospitality was and is still great" here (on MS) - one of the first things I encountered when I first joined the forum, and when I first joined the authorizers team was rudeness. It is no different from walking into a public space and encountering hosts talking loudly about 'those people' and how you hope they don't make your work difficult for you. Even worse when you are specifically invited and then... Eh yani, what do you expect? It wasn't the best reception and please don't deny it - that to me would be passive-aggressive.
Well, that's just not true. I do however find you being very rude indirectly as you never seem to say anything straight and your posts have a tendency to attack the mods. Just see your first post. That's pretty poor behaviour but I find myself expecting this from a former SF user.
It seems that only the guest really addressed my question. Why did this thread turn into an attack on this forum?
SF: Ignore members and delete without notice
Muftisays: Answer, address and replies to every single person and justifies every decision with rules
HUGE difference. Maybe SF way is better and the admins and mods should just delete and stay silent without giving the members any chance at all to be ungrateful
This is what I mean by "damaged" - I still believe SF members are far worse for these reasons. Can the SF "legends" reply?
Irrespective of whether brother Muad is right or wrong about him....I have never seen such a strong language on SF against any one
lol you've not been on SF then. I read much worse on there. So again, that's just not true either. SF members are starting to sound like those majlis fans where they just turn blind eyes
This cannot be undone and I am sure it will be greatly appreciated.
