Having said what I've said, my respected brothers and sisters, don't get me wrong and don't take my word for it, for all I know the third method I'm on could be a delusion from Shaitan making me think I'm doing more than enough and stopping me from doing more!

We can only follow what we see in front of us, judge with our own eyes.

Is British Tassawuff producing spectacular results where we are in awe of men and women who practice this? Is it producing Ulamah who are impressive in terms of knowledge and Akhlaaq.

The answer is categorical "No"!

What I see is those who are in Tassawuff have major problems with backbiting, slander, disrespect, arrogance and it comes in FULL SHOW the minute you discuss their Shaykh or their Tareeqa. I could understand this reaction if Allah (SWT), His Rasool (Sallallaho Alaihe Wassallam) or Islam was discussed and if someone actually disrespected a Shayk, most of the times it is "perceived disrespect".

Read this blog and the comments and judge the state of Tassawuff

Now lets compare the state of practitioners of Tassawuff to those who don't. Are "Non-Sufees" any worst in terms of Akhlaaq, Sunnah, practise then Sufees? Or flip the question and ask are "Sufees" superior to "Non-Sufees" in any of these areas?

The answer is again categorical "No"!

If Tassawuff is the essence of Akhlaaq, Sunnah, Practise then why are people "Not Impressed"?

What we also see is Khaleefa fighting, splitting, filing law suits against each other so even after reaching the "pinncale of Tassawuff" it has NOT enbaled them to bury the hatchet and MOVE ON; something they advise other Muslims to do...

I can sit here and give you example after example of Darul-uloom Splits, Khanqah Splits, Law suits why doesn't their Tassawuff prevent them from these happenings?

Muadh has given an example that is very easily compared with the Shia.

How?

A Shia will bad mouth almost every companion and the prophet and no Shia will say anything, but as soon as Khomeini is mentioned, all war breaks out. This is becoming the situation of our lot, one word against a Shaykh and boom, but if we discuss sahaba and Sunnah, everyone becomes a silent reader, to the extent that people disassociate themselves with us!

Problem today is people have made tasawuf and other fountains separate entities of Deen, and over time this has allowed all sorts of stuff to creep in. This is why I'm not surprised when Salafi's calls Sufis 'Sufi kabooris'.

If they really followed Tasawwuf which is basically to get rid of all internal bad characteristics then akhii that wouldn't really be the case today, which then brings you to question the type of Tasawwuf followed, reasons and motives followed, it's effectiveness etc. I personally don't rate many, simply for the reasons you listed ,because you think your higher up (the khalifa) and it's had no effect on you, what kind of tarbiyah must you be doing of your mureeds and how effective is it ? Not much and not surprised either. In English it we call it the 'placebo effect '. If true Tasawwuf was practiced then this wouldn't be the state today of many, sadly Tasawwuf is only left it name mostly today.

However there are still good Sufis out there that one can go and benefit from.

I know many who have experienced this, one word against Shaykh and the takfeeri brigade comes out and usually it's the guys own brothers of the same silsilah, and when someone asks about him they'll say oh akhii that brother is in severe waswasa these days.

Another common thing you see is severe misinterpretation of the Shaykh's taleem. Also some brothers making up stories from themselves and adding a few bits to it.

5. Recommend some reading or give them some books
6. Take them to some lectures of the various scholars...most of the lectures create a short buzz which should be utilized for more action
7. Tell them to focus on studies/work/life
8. Keep meeting these brothers on and off (though these days less) to keep up mutual love.

I will let brother fake shaykh elaborate more on what a person should do.

The method you guys are proposing translates as follows;

1. All scholars are complete failures...ok true to some extent so where should I send my kids to learn quraan
2. All Sufis are failures...please give me alternatives

So please help me with some solutions

1. All ulema are messed up where should I send my children to learn Quraan and hadeeth
2. All Sufis messed up so where for tazkiya?
