Having said what I've said, my respected brothers and sisters, don't get me wrong and don't take my word for it, for all I know the third method I'm on could be a delusion from Shaitan making me think I'm doing more than enough and stopping me from doing more!

I think the safe and better approach would be to drink from all fountains, as many as one can. Just avoid becoming a cultist as this is where the problem starts. At the end of the day the goal is that we all have a good ending that's on eman and with kalima on our lips when we depart this world Insha'Ala

This is my approach anyway and I got a long long way to go.

We can only follow what we see in front of us, judge with our own eyes.

Is British Tassawuff producing spectacular results where we are in awe of men and women who practice this? Is it producing Ulamah who are impressive in terms of knowledge and Akhlaaq.

The answer is categorical "No"!

What I see is those who are in Tassawuff have major problems with backbiting, slander, disrespect, arrogance and it comes in FULL SHOW the minute you discuss their Shaykh or their Tareeqa. I could understand this reaction if Allah (SWT), His Rasool (Sallallaho Alaihe Wassallam) or Islam was discussed and if someone actually disrespected a Shayk, most of the times it is "perceived disrespect".

Read this blog and the comments and judge the state of Tassawuff

Now lets compare the state of practitioners of Tassawuff to those who don't. Are "Non-Sufees" any worst in terms of Akhlaaq, Sunnah, practise then Sufees? Or flip the question and ask are "Sufees" superior to "Non-Sufees" in any of these areas?

The answer is again categorical "No"!

If Tassawuff is the essence of Akhlaaq, Sunnah, Practise then why are people "Not Impressed"?

What we also see is Khaleefa fighting, splitting, filing law suits against each other so even after reaching the "pinncale of Tassawuff" it has NOT enbaled them to bury the hatchet and MOVE ON; something they advise other Muslims to do...

Acha so muadh khan what do you suggest we do? That leaves you with option 1 tabligh only though I would say you come under the category 3...i.e. According to your statement all deobandi tasawuff and their linked ulema are a waste of space so now give me an alternative.

Muadh has given an example that is very easily compared with the Shia.

How?

A Shia will bad mouth almost every companion and the prophet and no Shia will say anything, but as soon as Khomeini is mentioned, all war breaks out. This is becoming the situation of our lot, one word against a Shaykh and boom, but if we discuss sahaba and Sunnah, everyone becomes a silent reader, to the extent that people disassociate themselves with us!

Tassawuff (Tazkiyah) is the essence of Islamic spirituality, we all agree. The method is PERFECT. The methodology is not producing results, you tell me what we should do?

Surely we should be looking at the implementation and agreeing that something is gone horribly wrong, shouldn't we?

A car is meant to be driven, if it doesn't drive shouldn't we FIX it or HIDE that it doesn't drive from people?

Problem today is people have made tasawuf and other fountains separate entities of Deen, and over time this has allowed all sorts of stuff to creep in. This is why I'm not surprised when Salafi's calls Sufis 'Sufi kabooris'.

If they really followed Tasawwuf which is basically to get rid of all internal bad characteristics then akhii that wouldn't really be the case today, which then brings you to question the type of Tasawwuf followed, reasons and motives followed, it's effectiveness etc. I personally don't rate many, simply for the reasons you listed ,because you think your higher up (the khalifa) and it's had no effect on you, what kind of tarbiyah must you be doing of your mureeds and how effective is it ? Not much and not surprised either. In English it we call it the 'placebo effect '. If true Tasawwuf was practiced then this wouldn't be the state today of many, sadly Tasawwuf is only left it name mostly today.

However there are still good Sufis out there that one can go and benefit from.

True

I know many who have experienced this, one word against Shaykh and the takfeeri brigade comes out and usually it's the guys own brothers of the same silsilah, and when someone asks about him they'll say oh akhii that brother is in severe waswasa these days.

Another common thing you see is severe misinterpretation of the Shaykh's taleem. Also some brothers making up stories from themselves and adding a few bits to it.

I was told that being a Khaleefa is no guarantee of anything. I understand that becoming a Khaleefa is not an intention and it should be to please Allah (SWT) but in the system (or levels) surely becoming a Khaleefa counts for something and if even at that level your internal (bad traits) are not significantly reduced then how did you get the rating?

OR is the rating system flawed and manipulative?

Flawed and manipulative big time akhii, why do you think there are so many internal marriages ? It's all for power control and for the retention of top positions.

You get the rating because your old in the system or you know one two of the big boys in there

Very rarely you'll see a poor guy or an outsider get it.

However not all but mostly this is what you see these days.

This is why I am asking you what should be done. What should me mr london786 do? Should I do what bro abu Muhammad does and forget all groups and shaykhs and live my life with 5 times salah and content with working by myself on sincerity or should I go and actually try my best and visit the various mashaikh/groups and then filter them down to the best one? Unlce muadh tell me what would be your advice to a person who comes to you. My advice to the young brothers who I regularly meet etc is as follows;

1. Go in jamat 3 days a month
2. Find a shaykh and usually I recommend a few names and even take them to visit the shaykh. I then ask the shaykh(s) to personally look after them explain to them what bait etc is, maintaining contact
3. Seek ilm in structured manner. Plenty of courses nowadays. If the brother is young and has time there is even part time darse e nizami which can be combined with work/studies
4. Spend 10 days itikaaf in Bury/Leicester/local masjid. For most people who seek an environment Leicester is best
5. Recommend some reading or give them some books
6. Take them to some lectures of the various scholars...most of the lectures create a short buzz which should be utilized for more action
7. Tell them to focus on studies/work/life
8. Keep meeting these brothers on and off (though these days less) to keep up mutual love.

I will let brother fake shaykh elaborate more on what a person should do.

The method you guys are proposing translates as follows;

1. All scholars are complete failures...ok true to some extent so where should I send my kids to learn quraan
2. All Sufis are failures...please give me alternatives

So please help me with some solutions

1. All ulema are messed up where should I send my children to learn Quraan and hadeeth
2. All Sufis messed up so where for tazkiya?

How about the simple and blatant solution which Abu Muhammad and Jinn have already stated without the spin.

Benefit from all Ulamah and all Mashaykh instead of worshipping them.

I can attend Bayans, ask questions, consult, seek advice and everything else without becoming part of the cult. Is that hard?
