Grand Mufti of Darul-uloom Deoband was travelling with his wife in India and time for Maghrib came so he decided to take his wife to the Masjid and asked the locals to let her pray somewhere.

They refused, astonished Hazrat Mufti Saheb asked for the reason.

They said, “Grand Mufti of Darul-uloom Deoband has given the Fatwa that its HARAM for women to pray in the Masjid!”

Hazrat Mufti Saheb replied, “I am the Grand Mufti of Darul-uloom Deoband and I have not given any such Fatwa. I will be returning soon so write me a letter and I will clarify any misconceptions, for right now; let her pray!”

Q) We interact with Sikhs here in Dubai and they are asking as to why Muslims destory the Creation of Allah (SWT) i.e. when Allah (SWT) has created hair, why are Muslims not content with it and they keep cutting it and chopping it? They should leave the Creation of Allah (SWT) as is and unmodified. We are disturbed by this matter and would like a Shariah explaination for it?

A) Ask the Sikhs, why they cut their nails?!!!

Question

Is there any SUNNAT of cutting nails? i.e: Is there any day preferred to cut nails or any preferred order of cutting nails or particular day in which it is prefeered not to cut nails.

Answer

Assalāmu `alaikum Warahmatullāhi Wabrakatuh,

Pairing ones nails is a sunnah of Nabi salallahu alayhi wasallam. The nails should be paired whenever the need arises.

῾Allāmah Tahtāwi rahmatullah alayh (d.1231H) mentions that nails should be paired once a weak and preferably on a Friday. If one delays from pairing once a week (due to slow growth of nails or some other reason) then he should pair them once in fifteen days. Leaving the nails unpaired for more than forty days is a sin.

There is no sunnah of pairing the nails in a specific sequence or order. However, there are different opinions about what is the preferred sequence.

Imām Ghazāli rahmatullah alayh (d.505H) has preferred and expounded on a particular sequence for pairing nails in his Ihyā' Ulūmid Dīn. He mentions that one should start pairing the nails from the Shahadah finger of the right hand and then move towards the right till the small finger. Then one should start with the small finger of left hand and move towards the thumb of the left hand. Finally one should finish pairing at one's right thumb.

῾Allāmah Nawāwi rahmatullah alayh (d.676H) has mentioned in his Al Majmū῾Sharhul Muhadhibthat this view of Imām Ghazāli rehmatullah alayh is acceptable except for the part where he says that the right thumb should be delayed it the end. ῾Allāmah Nawāwi rahmatullah alayh says that pairing the right thumb before starting the left hand will fulfil the preference of "beginning (an action) with the right".

Mullah ῾Ali Qārī rahmatullah alayh (d.1014H) has thus conclusively mentioned in Mirqāt ul Mafatīh Sharah Mishkātil Masābīh that the preferred method is to start from the right index finger (Shahadah finger) to the right small finger then the right thumb. Thereafter, for left hand start from the small finger and ending towards the thumb.

Pairing of the toe nails will be from the small right toe to the small left toe.

With regards to specifying a particular day too, different opinions have been mentioned in the books. ῾Allāmah ibn Hajar rahmatullah alayh makes clarification of these views and mentions that the most appropriate view is that there is no reason to make any day specific for pairing ones nails. However, one may choose Jumu῾āh(Friday) to pair ones nails since most people reserve this day to clean themselves and beautify for the congregation.

Presenter couldn't stop laughing while reading this...

Q:- Mufti Saheb, a boy tore my Soccer ball and I demanded money but some say that it is Haram for me to ask for money. Can you tell me please?

A:- While playing soccer some boy had a jet-powered kick which tore the ball apart and what have you...This is called Penalty and it was not intentional that he didn't take a knife and cut your ball so since the damage was not intentional you cannot demand any money

But this boy has one hell of a kick!

Q:- Mufti Saheb, does a person have to take a shower straight away after having a sexual intercourse with the wife?

A:- So our brother is asking that if someone has a Marathon session with the wife and what have you and you are exhausted afterwards do you have to take a Shower. No you don't have it because you are completely tired so get some sleep and its permissable to get sleep as long as you don't miss your Fajar Salah its permissable and there is no problem with that.

Q:- Mufti Saheb, I live here in UAE and the Sikhs bother us and say that Allah (SWT) created the hair so why do we Muslims tamper with Allah (SWT)'s creation and cut the hair? This has really preplexed me and I find no answer to it

A:- Ask the Sikhs why they cut the nails!
