I was wondering if the meat in India is halal because there is many Muslims there and Hindus don’t eat meat so is the meat sold in stores halal everywhere in India? I am asking because I was at the airport in India and ate the meat because I had heard that all their meat was halal.

See this link where Hindu and Sikh Indians kill their animals for eating.

Not only are there hindu and Sikh people in India, there are also Christians, fire worshippers, atheists, Shia, qadyani, Jews and many more people whose meat is Haram.

We don't eat meat served at airport, inside flight, non Muslim hotels and restaurants. Even if owner claims it is halal.

If the owner of restaurant or a hotel is a muslim, we can eat meat here. But in places like Mumbai and Delhi, ask a local muslim.

There is no certification process in India. Meat supplies from companies like Godrej can't be guaranteed although they display "Halal" on the pack .

The post was an FYI for those who do travel by Air India and by default, assume the food is Halal! (Since it seems that it was always Halal)
