So far you have provided no evidence to back up your emotional outbursts you stated.... www.muftisays.com/forums/14-peoples-say/10902-bbc-news-ar...

The article stated ..... www.muftisays.com/forums/14-peoples-say/10902-bbc-news-ar...

Basically you've gone on a rant based on a generalised statement made by a Journalist who did not mention any names as to who these Muslim Community leaders are that were blaming "wahabbis" or provide any evidence .... For all you know she could be talking about progressive modernists, or pseudo sufis.

Only thing I can see from reading the same article and your emotional response to it is that perhaps you need to improve your comprehension skills.

You are arguing that the Deobandis were complicit when other Muslims were unjustly and unfairly targeted in the Media.

I would beg to differ.

Finally whilst you have focused on harking over grievances in the past (whether real or imagined), you have failed to provide any real or tangible solutions about what should be done right now in the present tense... Except to tell everybody that their efforts in complaining to the BBC will be futile, and pointless.

Your not willing to do anything practical yourself, you dont want anyone to do anything pratical either because it will according to you be futile... Only thing you have contributed on this thread is attacks against Ulemah and label everyone as muppets, and Scholar worshippers who are worse then shia.

When confronted about lack of ettiquette you have chosen to persist, and keep going "Innercity freestyle" as if your the only brother from the hood here....! Your mistaken on that front too, most of the Brethren here are from the streets of the Innercity, they can do freestyle with the best of them. But you are our younger Brother and it is our obligation to advise you with patience, that your manners of speech and emotionalism will bring no benefit except cause you to feel depressed, frustrated and despondent.

A couple of further points I like to emphasize as far as the BBC is concerned.

The BBC is will rarely apologise, they will offer platitudes such as.. "it is unfortunate" "It is regrettable" etc. But they will rarely say sorry, because in legal definition to say sorry is an admission of guilt. If however when you complain they include a response.. from
Editor or producer of the programme then that means they have taken your complaint seriously enough as to seeking out a response
from the team responsible for making the programme.

The people in the complaints department are not authorized to apologise...If however they mention that your complaint has been included in the audience log, then that means your complaint has been noted. The Audience log goes out to presenters, Editors producers and other senior management...! This way they know what complaints are being made and who is making them, they take this into account when making future programmes.

On issues like Palestine, know that for every complaint made by supporters of Palestine about 25 complaints are made by the Zionist lobby...The Zionist lobby is highly organised they complain about every single article and newspaper even if they are complaining about a single phrase being used they will complain...The Zionist lobby is highly organised they have been since the dawn of the internet 20 plus years, they will have a large database of volunteers whos job is to complain, from around the world an e-mail alert is sent out asking them to complain about a particular programme or article. The BBC will then get flooded with complaints from indviduals as far a field as Canada and Australia who may not have even seen the programme. This is one of the methods used by the Zionist lobbies to ensure the main narrative remains the Pro-Israel narrative. This also gives the BBC an excuse that they are impartial thats why they are being criticized by both sides.

You will find similar, lopsided manner of complaints concerning the issue of Kashmir and the Treatment of Muslims in India.. The complaints made by the Pro-India and Pro-Right wing Hindu lobby heavily out number the complaints made by Muslims.

I remember years ago, there was talk of muslims establishing a similar database to lobby the media through letter or e-mail campaigns..That remained in the talking stages, the muslims felt that since we are being attacked from all sides and all strands of the media it would be a pretty much futile exercise.

On issues were Programmes are blatantly Islamaphobic... The Rightwing Islamaphobe lobby in their endeavours to assure that the Islamaphobic narrative remains the dominant narrative will either Write in to praise the programme and compiment the producers or Commonly they will write into criticise saying the programme was watered down and not Islamaphobic enough and accuse the BBC of being pro-Muslim. That's why you often see articles in the Tabloids accusing the BBC of being pro-muslim.

The fact is anti-muslim lobby is very organised...We are disorganised.

We lack media savvy and We also lack PR savvy... Understanding of PR means that if you are a Muslim Speaker and Muslim insitute then in anticpation of the Media witch hunts, you should already have audio lectures and articles condemning terrorism, Isis etc...Whilst commending the British public for their many good qualities that they have.

This way Media cannot justifiably accuse an institute or individual of either being sympathetic to terrorism or being anti-British...They will do their preliminary research and completeley avoid scapegoating such an institution.

Whats more in America their has been a massive campaign gathered around re-claiming "The American Muslim narrative", the argument being that the narrative about muslims has been set by the right wing media and it is wholly untrue. So their have been alot of talks, articles concerning the history of Islam in America from the arrival of the earliest slaves.. to the contributions made by
Muslim immigrants over the last few centuries.

For example In U.K. many muslims who arrived in U.K. had family members who fought on behalf of Britain in two world wars...!This is a story that needs to be told over and over again, amongst many other stories of Islam in Britain.

Its time for British muslims to reclaim the British Muslim Narrative.

well MEND managed to get the sun newspaper to apologize for their misleading 1 in 5 muslims support isis headline so if we go to them and other organisations who deal with these issues then maybe the bbc will change its stance or at least offer some form of an apology.

MEND would still need support from the muslim community, the 1-5 sun article received over 3000 complaints, when there is a large number of complaints the IPSO chooses one Lead complainant which in these case was MEND.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I write in relation to your complaint about an article headlined “1 in 5 Brit Muslims’ sympathy for jihadis”, published by The Sun on 23 November 2015.

As you are aware, IPSO selected a lead complaint for the purposes of investigating the concerns raised.

IPSO’s Complaints Committee has now reached a decision on this matter, which can be found at the following link: www.ipso.co.uk/IPSO/rulings/IPSOrulings-detail.html?id=331

Thank you for contacting IPSO.

well that is still encouraging. as i said in previous post instead of us all doing our own things why not already work with what we got? either seek advice from mend or let them lead the fight and then we can all do the petitions or whatever. they specialise in these sort of issues so makes sense.

Most of those 3000 complaints were made directly and independently by both muslims and non-muslims... IPSO it self, chose MEND because it is an organisation representing Muslims and secondly its arguments rather then being based on emotionalism were based on legal arguments concerning the Press Guidelines of IPSO itself, and the violations committed by the Sun newspaper who is a signatory to the Press Guidelines and code of conduct.

Similarly if one complains to the BBC it is far more effective to point out the violations in the BBC's Producers guidelines.

As far as getting MEND involved it would depend on the fact if this programme falls under the remit of MEND, and if MEND want to take up the case. Also if those individuals and institutions targeted want MEND to take up the case and make a request

السلام عليكم

None of the Ulama or organizations which contacted Wifaqul Ulama to assist in drafting and proofreading their responses were mentioned on the BBC program.

Some of the letters were pretty incriminating with BBC publicizing the smoking gun evidence against them, all were dropped by this program. All of these allegations were responded to in full.

جزاك اللهُ خيرًا

Media wants to divide the Muslims and connect isolated individuals and Institutions to Pakistan. Our recommendation to the Ulama consistently has been that British Muslims should respond in unison backed by a legal team.

Ulama of this country must respond as a collective and we mean Ulama and not just Deobandi Ulama.

There are 3 million British Muslims and we have a very clear position on Khatm-e-Nubuwwat within the framework of Normative Islam. There is no legal restriction for us to articulate this position but we keep imploring Ulama that this should come as a united response.

wifaqululama.co.uk/society/46-qadianis

If you all agree that British Muslims should be united make your Ulama, Imams and leaders see the benefit in a united response.

The comments on your blog concerning Dawat e Islami, are inaccurate and divisive Dawat e Islami as an organisation preaches non-violence. Whilst it is true that both Mumtaz Qadri and Tanvir Ahmed were connected to Dawat e Islami they were both radicalised, by fringe and extreme Barelvi organisations.

Mumtaz Qadri was radicalised after attending the speeches of an extremist preacher from Islamabad Mufti Hanif Qureshi whose speech against Salman Taseer is available on youtube... youtu.be/jlM0HYqOL7c

Mumtaz Qadri was in attendance during that speech it is what inspired him... Since the Murder of Salman Taseer, Mufti Hanif Qureshi has become a regular feature on Tv Talk show programmes as mentioned in the following article in.

Pakistan Today www.pakistantoday.com.pk/2016/01/16/comment/violent-sufis...

Tanvir Ahmed it seems was radicalised by the Sunni Tehreek speakers although that is yet to be substantiated.

The Dawat e Islami leadership has un-waveringly maintained that Mumtaz Qadri was wholly unjustified in taking the law into his hands and engaging in vigilantism .... here is a speech by the leader of Dawat e Islami Maulana Ilyas Qadri youtu.be/F_qouZrUJRo

Following the execution of Mumtaz Qadri the extremist factions amongst the Barelvis roundly attacked both the Leader of Dawat e Islami and Dr Tahir ul Qadri for saying that Mumtaz Qadri was wrong in engaging in Vigilantism.

So your blog post needs to be amended. Since we do not like ourselves being smeared then we should not engage in smear campaigns against others, for sectarian reasons and label them as extremist. We should not play this media game of divide and conquer.

Blog reworded as per your advice.

In the BBC program they referred to celebration of Asad Shah's murder which most certainly neither Glasgow Mosque nor anyone associated with Deobandees did.

Apologies I noticed my mistake, after I wrote my post but however I have edited it. My advice would be
to take into account what Maulana stated above that the main agenda of this programme was a cynical attempt of trying to divide the muslims ... Perhaps in the interest of fairness it would be better to clarify that individuals who have praised the killing of Asad Shah are belonging to fringe organisations based in Pakistan ..., As far as I know British Barelvi organisations such as the Ramadhan foundation have also condemned the killing of Asad Shah..

Mohammed Shafiq, chief executive of Muslim youth organisation, the Ramadhan Foundation, said: ‘Whatever differences we have with the Ahmadi community, the murder of Asad Shah is a despicable crime which everyone should condemn.’

and all mainstream British Muslim organisations have been united in their condemnation.

So this allegation of the BBC is totally unwarranted, and untrue. Further more Owen Bennet Jones was the BBc's Chief Pakistan correspondent and lived in the country for a number of years I am sure he is fully aware of the differences between Barelvi and Deobandi also Sajid Iqbal who is one of the Producers and mainly works at BBC Media Monitoring centre translating news from Urdu to English will also be aware of this. This was probably just an attempt to incite a defensive reaction from Deobandis "its not us its them Barelvis".
