Islamic State (IS): Hate, Brutality, Oppression & Mayhem

posted by Muadh_Khan on 29th August 2014 - 8 comments

Introduction:

The emergence of ISIS in Iraq & Syria took many by surprise. The declaration of Islamic Caliphate (IS) for many during Ramadhan 1435 (around 29th of June 2014) was equally unexpected, yet nostalgic. Generations of Muslims around the world having grown up without a caliphate were euphoric and joyous not knowing the background and emergence of this group. The euphoria even affected seasoned Scholars such as Shaykh Salman Husaini Nadwi (HA) who issued fairly positive messages of good will towards IS.

As we collate various opinions on ISIL (ISIS and now IS), the PR mask has slipped and the fangs are visible for all to witness. It is our hope that by collecting together the opinions of various Islamic Scholars and experts on IS the naïve amongst us would wake up and realise this brutal, hateful group for what it is.

The reality of this group can be summed up by the following well known English saying:

All that glitters is not gold!

Shawaal Moon 1435 (South Africa) Musings

posted by Muadh_Khan on 29th July 2014 - 4 comments

Asslamo Allaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh,

3 days have passed since the sighting of Shawaal moon in South Africa and my phone hasn’t stopped beeping and ringing about the issue. I heard the announcement live on air and had no problems accepting the sighting because I have immense trust upon the Ulama so no questions asked.

Before my “musings” let me get some basics out of the way. One of our brothers (Salih) posted this picture of the moon on twitter and asked me to spot it and here is my feeble attempt to draw a red circle over what I think the crescent is : - ) and the location is Laudium (South Africa)

I am sure that the brother will correct me if I am wrong :P but this is the best my eyes can do with a grainy picture...

Palestine, Boycotts and WhatsApp

posted by Muadh_Khan on 23rd July 2014 - 1 comment

Asslamo Allaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh,

May Allah (SWT) ease the pain and suffering of our Brothers and Sisters in Palestine (Ameen). I was speaking to a Shaykh last night just before Asar and both of our phones kept continuously beeping with incoming WhatsApp messages.

I told the Shaykh that I have not experienced such levels of helplessness, despondency and disappointment in the Muslim Ummah for some time, not only the general Ummah is hurt over the ensuing Israeli aggression (subsequent massacre and war crimes) in Gaza but they are furious with the lack of action from Muslim Governments around the world.

Ecuador recalled its ambassador from Israel recently, South Africa considered such a move but stopped just short.

The Muslim countries (particularly the Arab states) have been eerily silent with the toothless OIC (aptly named O! I see…) by the late Dr Israr Ahmed (RA) non-existent.

Why Allah (SWT) gave Dunya to the Americans?

posted by Muadh_Khan on 13th July 2014 - 2 comments

Asslamo Allaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh,

I was young when a Jamaat arrived from Pakistan with a Mufti who was very knowledgeable and had spent 1 year in the Middle East (Jordan, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon) and was thus also fluent in Arabic. I became very close to Mufti Saheb.

One day I needed the address on my driving licence changed and Mufti Saheb (HA) decided to come along with me to the office. The requirement was to have 2 pieces of valid IDs and I only had one, the woman was going to send me away but I moaned and complained so she changed my license based on just 1 ID.

Around the sometime a Sister had taken Shahadah and she had a disabled son who was also deaf and could only lip read. She requested the Masjid to have her son spend his afternoons and evenings in the Masjids so we used to pick him up from home and he used to happily spend time with the Jamaat or praying or in the Madrasah. During talks, speeches and programs he used to sit in the front row so he could “lip read” what was being said.

We also had a wheelchair bound Revert brother who was also alone so he used to spend a lot of time in the Masjid.

Hypocrisy of Muslim Governments over Gaza

posted by Muadh_Khan on 12th July 2014 - 2 comments

Asslamo Allaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh,

Note that I am not used the word “Islamic” as I don’t want to ascribe the noble and divine religion of Allah (SWT) with the practises of dozens of Governments around the world. I do however recognise that “Muslims” happen to be in charge of these Governments and I hope that recognition that they will have to answer to Allah (SWT) on the day of judgement and Fear of Allah (SWT) particularly during the blessed month of Ramadhan will spur them into doing something “Islamic” about Palestine.

I acknowledge the individual and collective sins and shortcomings of this Ummah of Rasul-ullah (Sallallaho Alaihe Wassallam) but I beseech Allah (SWT) to show mercy and turn the hearts of people towards good and towards the noble Sunnah of Rasul-ullah (Sallallaho Alaihe Wassallam) [Ameen]

There is collective inertia in Muslim countries (once again) over Palestine! Once again there is airy silence on the diplomatic front of Muslim countries and best we have is “Aid drives” or pledges of money. The UAE has pledge $25 million for Gaza and the media across the Middle East is plastering its front pages with praises of generosity of “Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan”Is this a bad joke? Khaleejtimes reads:

The assistance confirms the ongoing historical solidarity and support of the UAE leadership, government and people with the Palestinian people.

Thoughts on the new Islamic Caliphate

Asslamo Allaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh,

Disclaimer:  I am a humble Servant of Allah (SWT) who lacks much in knowledge and experience so what is written here is simply my analysis which is liable to error and everyone reading this has the right to disagree.

Of all the wars and conflicts of the past few decades, the 2003 invasion of Iraq is the most puzzling to understand and explain. It made no sense.

  1. Neither Iraq nor Saddam Hussain had any involvement with the attacks on world trade centre

Abdullah Ibn Muhammad Al Khudairi: Saudi moon sighting Expert

posted by Muadh_Khan on 1st July 2014 - 3 comments

Asslamo Allaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh,

Alhumdolillah, many Muslims around the world were relieved (and overjoyed) with the absence of moon sighting news from Saudia Arabia on Friday the 27th of June 2014. Experts around the world were pretty much unanimous that there wasn’t any chance of moon sighting on that day in Saudia Arabia as indicated below:

27th of June 2014 (Ramadhan update):

However, since moonset was a minute or two after sunset there was apprehension because Abdullah Ibn Muhammad Al Khudairi from Sudair (Saudia) who has sighted the moon numerous times in the past 10 years for his testimony to be accepted by Saudi judges. The official moon sighting teams (from Saudi Government) have been working in the same area for years and unable to verify or confirm the sightings.

Asslamo Allaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh,

A fundamental part of higher education and post graduate research is critiquing a scientific study. The origin, those involved in the research, how the research was funded, how it was designed and ultimately are the conclusion drawn rigorous and match the data gathered during the study.
