The Prophet - The Sahaba - The Tabi'een - The Tabi' Tabi'een - The Imams - The Muhaddith - The Scholars - and so on to Us - a STRONG CHAIN and for those who would like to compare it to the rope of Allah, then that also includes the Rope of Allah, The Quran.

1) Who is the creator? (40:64) Allah, it is he Who has made for you the earth as a dwelling place and the sky as a canopy. and has given you shape and made your shapes good (looking) and has provided you with good things. That is Allah, your Lord: so Blessed be Allah, the Lord of the Alamin (mankind, jinn and all that exists). (39:6) He created you (all) from a single person (Adam) ; then made from him his wife {Hawwa , (Eve)}. and He has sent down for you of cattle eight pairs (of the sheep , two , male and female ; of the goats , two , male and female of the oxen , two , male and female and of the camels, two, male and female). He creates you in the wombs of your mothers: creation after creation in there veils of darkness. Such is Allah your Lord His is the Kingdom. La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). How then are you turned away? (7:54) Indeed your Lord is Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth in six days, and then He rose over (Istawa) the Throne (really in manner that suits His Majesty). He brings the night as a cover over the day, seeking it rapidly , and (He created) the sun, the moon, the stars subjected to His Command. Surely, His is the Creation and Commandment. Blessed is Allah, the Lord of the Alamin (mankind, jinn and all that exists)! (10:32) Such is Allah, your Lord in truth. So after the truth, what else can there be, save error. How then are you turned away? Who is Allah?

Sahabah رضي الله عنهم would cling fast to the Sunnah, on account of it being Sunnah, while we discard the Sunnah, on account of it being just Sunnah!
They (the Sahabah) knew the value of the Sunnah, they knew the value of Islam, they knew the value of success, they knew the value of the akhira.
We know the value of the Dunya, we know the value of Kufr, we know the value of failure, we dont fear the Akhira.
May Allah help us and protect us.

Umar(ra) A Hadith states that Rasulullaah (SAW) said, Verily Allaah has placed the truth on the tongue of Umar.(1) This tells us that nothing contrary to the truth will come from the tongue of Hadhrat Umar (RA). Therefore, why should he not be a criterion for good and bad? There is also another narration in which Rasulullaah (SAW) said, There has been Muhaddathoon in the previous nations (people whose tongues are inspired with the truth). If there is any Muhaddath in my Ummah, it is definitely Umar.(2) Imaam Tahtaawi (RH) reports a Hadith in which Rasulullaah (SAW) says, Many things will be initiated after me and those that I love the most are the ones that Umar shall initiate. You people should therefore adhere steadfastly to that which Umar initiates.(3)

The Question of Raf-ul-Yadain - Raising Of Hands in Salah Video added as some may not like to read. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yF_-tGe3nOE&feature=player_embedded I admit this is a bit long, but I think it is important that we know that the evidence does exist. One day, I was having a discussion with a brother and by chance we went onto Raful Yadain. As soon as I mentioned the Hadith of ibn Masud on "Shall I perform Salah". The brother instantly said this was weak, I got so angry but I had to keep my temper down. I even asked him who was weak in the chain of narrations when there were only a few people in the chain. There was no answer except the that the scholars have said that this was weak.
