THAT WHICH NOTHING POLLUTES: WATER, THE EARTH, THE PERSON IN NEED OF GHUSLAUSE OF SEXUAL RELATIONS, ETC.

Kitab al Athar of Imam Abu Hanifa Chapter on THAT WHICH NOTHING POLLUTES: WATER, THE EARTH, THE PERSON IN NEED OF GHUSL BECAUSE OF SEXUAL RELATIONS, ETC.

25. Muhammad said, "Abu Hanifa informed us, 'Al-Haytham ibn Abi'l-Haytham narrated to us that Ibn Abbas (ra) said, thereare four things which nothing pollutes: the body, clothing, water and clean earth"'"

Muhammad said, "The explanation of that according to us is that when something dirty strikes something and one washes it, it departs from it, and so it doesn't carry the filth. With respect to water it only means that when there is a great deal of it or it is flowing, then it doesn't carry impurity."

26. Muhammad said, "Abu Hanifa informed us from Hammaad from Ibrahim that the Messenger of Allah (salallahu 'alahyi wa sallam) used to put his head out of the mosque while he was in i'tikaaf seclusion, and that A'isha (ra) would wash it while she was in her menstrual period

Muhammad said, "We adhere to this and we see no harm in it, and it is the verdict of Abu Hanifa

27. Muhammad said, "Abu Hanifa informed us from Hammaad from Ibrahim that while the Messenger of Allah (salallahu 'alahyi wa sallam) was walking, Hudhayfah ibn al-Yamaam (ra) appeared before him. The Prophet (salallahu 'alahyi wa sallam) made to shake his hand, but Hudhayfah (ra) held his hand back. The Prophet (salallahu 'alahyi wa sallam) said, 'What is wrong with you?' He answered. 'Messenger of Allah (salallahu 'alahyi wa sallam), I am in need of a Ghusl because of sexual relations.' He (salallahu 'alahyi wa sallam) said, 'The person who has Iman is not impure'"

Muhammad said, "We adhere to the Hadith of the Messenger of Allah (salallahu 'alahyi wa sallam). We see no harm in shaking hands with someone in need of a Ghusl because of sexual relations, and that is the verdict of Abu Hanifa."
