Blood donation while fasting

Asalamualikum, Is it possible to donate blood while fasting? It is not my intention to donate blood during Ramadan, but there is a patient in the hospital who is undergoing surgery and requires several pints of blood. Is it better to donate blood, fast, or refuse to donate blood in that situation?

Donating blood or taking a blood test will not invalidate one’s fast. However, if there is fear of weakness due to this it will be Makruh (disliked).

أو احتجم لم يفطر…… واما الاحتجام فلما روينا لعدم المنافي وهو قول الجمهور العلماء ولأن الحجامة ليس فيها الا إخراج الدم فصارت كالافتصاد والجرح
