Question: Will my salah be valid if I can not recite
I've two questions for you and the mufti

I'm a 48 year old muslim male who has speech impediment (cannot speak)
and have ADHD(difficulty concentrating and focusing) having a short attention span and being easily distracted

1. My question is about the recitation of Quran and daily dhikr
I would like to know if it is possible for me to read Quran and dhikr by listening to a recorded voice for Quran and dhikr.
Will I be able to get the rewards of listening to the Quran and dhikr?

2. My question is about the salah
I would like to know if it is possible for me to read namaz by listening to a recorded voice and then recite the words in my mind

Will my salah be valid if I do so?

الجواب حامدا ومصليا

1. Reading the Quran and listening to it is both rewarding and virtuous. It is important to make effort to read Quran as you will get reward for this.

'Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The one who is proficient in the recitation of the Qur'an will be with the honourable and obedient scribes (angels) and he who recites the Qur'an and finds it difficult to recite, doing his best to recite it in the best way possible, will have two rewards". (Al-Bukhari and Muslim)


2. Saying Takbeer and reciting in Salah is necessary. In contrast to someone mute he/she will be exempted from this.

Having speech impediment one will not be exempted. However, you are excused for the errors because of this problem. Allah knows what is in your heart. Your prayers will be valid, and you will not get any sin.

ولو قرأ بقلبه ولم يحرك لسانه فانه لا يجوز
(منحة الخالق هامش علي بحر الرائق ١/٥٨٨)
