Assalamualaikum, I have been separated from husband since more than 7 months with no contact at all. Now we are going to be divorced. Please let me know about iddat period and restrictions. My office is in another city but currently working from home, I think I can't travel to office or work from home but want to confirm as per Shariah.

الجواب حامداومصليا

A divorced woman stays in her husbands house. If that is difficult for her it is better for the husband to leave. Also, she can pass her Iddat in another house. The husband should provide maintenance to her whilst she passes her Iddat. If he doesn’t then by necessity to the extent of her needs she could go out to earn her living.

واذا وجب الإعتداد في منزل الزوج فلا بأس………..وإن تعذر فلتخرج هي تعتد في منزل اخر وكذا لو ضاق البيت وإن خرج هو كان أولي الخ
