Miqat rules from Jeddah

Salaams, I will be travelling from UK to Saudi to perform Umrah Insha'Allah. However, we will be staying in Jeddah for four nights prior to travelling to Makkah for the Umrah. What is the Islamic ruling on Miqaat in our case? Where can we wear the Ihram for Umrah? All guidance on this matter will be greatly appreciated. Jazakallahu khairan

You must wear Ihram from the Meeqat and not from Jeddah.

If you come out of your Ihram, then you need to go back to the Meeqat to wear the Ihram otherwise Damm is necessary.

To wear Ihram from Jedda is only allowed when you originally intend something else I.e., to see someone then later you make intention of Umrah.

في الدر المختار باب الجنايات آفاقي يريد الحج أو العمرة وجاوز وقته ثم احرم لزمه دم الخ
(الدرالمختارمع ردالمحتار ٢/٥٧٩-٥٨٠)

أما لو قصد موضعا من الحل كخليص و جدة حل له مجاوزته بلا إحرام فإذا حل به التحق بأهله فله دخول مكة بلا إحرام . وحل لأهل داخلها…..دخول مكة غير محرم……ما لم يرد نسكا……فهذا ميقاته الحل الذي بين المواقيت والحرم
