How Many Muslims Killed?

Some 12.5 million Muslims have been killed in wars during the last 25 years, a Turkish scholar said Saturday.

Speaking at a conference in Istanbul, Refik Turan, head of the Turkish Historical Society, said that throughout history humans have fought and war is an inevitable fact of life.

'Usually war is between two states, but there are wars within the country as well. The results of a war cannot be predicted. Wars are a fact of our lives,' he said at the 'World Wars, Turkey and Syria on Unending Struggles for Power' conference.

'According to a recent research, the number of Muslims who died in the conflict and wars in the world in the last 25 years have reached 12.5 million. This almost amounts to the losses in a World War.'

Turan also said that the U.S., Russia, and Iran do not want peace in Syria, and the result is evident.

'Turkey addresses 80 percent [of problems] in Syria. No one has this sort of potential. After the terrorists are cleared from Manbij, a ray [of hope] will light up all of Syria.'

Syria has been locked in a vicious civil war since 2011 when the Assad regime cracked down on pro-democracy protests with unexpected ferocity.

Since then, hundreds of thousands of people have been killed in the conflict, according to the U.N.

A worth reading article about how systematically references to Islam were excluded from the translations of Rumi’s poetry by Western scholars

Perhaps this will answer your question, Professor Sahab.

I now remember this article.

I suppose our task is to remind them that Rumi is about Love and Islam.

We are Worthless

I was once traveling from Delhi to Aligarh by a taxi.

When the car entered a magnificent road called the Taj Express Way the question came to my mind what way have I contributed to the construction of this road? Answer was stark - nothing.

Same is true about most of the aspects of life. My contributions are absolutely nothing.

And then bring in further issue of Allah SWT being As-Samad. He simply has stopped us from going into congregations.

And then pay little attention to the following episode in which a tall man had the opportunity to contribute in a significant way in the community life but did not or could not.

Let us feel humble.

Quote:
An AMU Vice Chancellor

Muhammed Ali Muhammed Khan, Raja of Mehmudabad was first VC of AMU.

(Those of you who have seen a movie called Dedh Ishqiya have seen his magnificent palace.)

Mukhtar Masood has recounted a very heart breaking story, from Muslim point of view, involving him.

Sometime after the partition he migrated to Pakistan.

The people in Pakistan expected that he'll play a role in accordance with his status in setting the the things right in the newly created state.

What did Raja Sahab do? A: Nothing. He simply withdrew from public life.

A mighty Muslim tragedy.

This reminds me of the lesser known Mughals after Alamgir Aurangzeb. They came one after another and every single one of them was useless and worthless and incompetent and incapable.

Muslim India saw decline and decline.

Clearly history depends excessively on individuals.

Get up on your feet and prepare to do your bit of role in the scheme of things.

And you can not even wish to do it if Allah SWT does not want it.

In one of Counselling classes organised by HRD, I was taught that when there is a very big problem, you create a small circle in that big problem and try to solve the problem. Then it is sure that you are contributing to solve the bigger problem.

I want to contribute to ummah's development. Let me create a small domain where I can contribute, start from myself, my family, mere milne julne walay etc. I am a clerk, I shall aim of making my daughter a specialist doctor, my son an engineer/scientist. I shall help in my nephews/niece getting best degrees etc.

This advice helped me in achieving my goals.

T vs J

This is not about Tablighi Jamaa-at.

It is about the T-word and it is about the J-word.

In my narrative I hardly talk of the T-word.

Of course I do not mostly talk of the J-word too.

In the scheme of western clash of civilization theory any assertion on behalf of a Muslim to break free of the western encroachment gulag can be and will be interpreted as T.

I would like to deny them this pleasure.

hence I restrict to the Orientalism, encroachment narrative. No T-narrative for me and no J-narrative for me.

I intend to keep the things that way.

No T-talk for me and no J-talk for me.

Given those restrictions I do try to talk to the edge, to the brink of the sensitive issues.

With this locus standi the risk of falling foul of the long western arm of tyranny is minimized.

Of course it can not entirely be eliminated.

Hence you see that dr Zakir Naik is stranded in Malaysia.

And Dr Mahathir Muhammed is most accommodating of Dr Naik but his logic is not optimum.

Of course we must understand that Dr Naik fell foul of the Indian Islamophobic imbeciles and not the west but the case is similar.

I also feel that the days and the age of individual J-actions is over.

Why and how? I do not know. I do not hear much T-talk from the west. May be they are bored of it.

A brother just mentioned that he has been against T-word all the time.

Well al of us have been.

But this will also mean that we must have been against the J-word all the time.

And the narrative ends up in confusion.

That is how sensitive the issue has been so far.

My impression is that in the wake of the developments in Afghanistan some clarification on this matter can and should ensue.

My Facebook friends from academics are mourning because Pakistani university employing Professor Pervez Hoodbhuy has decided not to continue his services.

"Professor Dr. Pervez Amirali Hoodbhoy, currently teaching physics and math at Lahore’s Forman Christian College University, has been informed that his contract will not be renewed in 2021. The same week, Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar announced that all universities of the province would be required to teach the holy Quran as a compulsory subject, with students allowed to graduate only after the course has been completed."

****

I feel like posting the following in reply:

****

(The 5 necessities that the Shariah preserves. )
Ash-Shatibi said, "As the Ummah, rather, the rest of the Millahs, have agreed that
the Shari'ah was put in place to preserve the five necessities, and they are: the Religion (Ad-Din), the self (An-Nafs), the offspring (An-Nasl), the wealth (Al-Mal) and the mind (Al-'Aql)." "Al- Muwafaqat Fi Usui Ash-Shari'ah" , Vol. 1/38.
Also, Muhammad Ibn Muhammad Al-Hanafi Al- Halabi, known as Ibn Amir Al-Hajj, (Died in the year 879 H.) said, "And the preservation of the
1)Religion, amongst the necessities, is given precedence over other than it, when there is conflict, because it is the greatest goal. He, Ta'ala, said,
" And I created not the Jinns and humans
except so that they should worship Me (Surat Ath- Thariyat, 56)"
And other than it is a goal due to it (i.e. All the other goals are only goals for the benefit of the Religion).
And because its fruit is the most complete of fruits, and it (i.e. its fruit) is the
achievement of eternal happiness in the nearness to the Lord of the Worlds.
2)Then the preservation of the self is given precedence over the preservation of the lineage (An-Nasab), the mind, and the wealth, due to it including the Religious benefits, because they (i.e. the Religious
benefits) are only achieved through the acts of worship, and their achievement (i.e. the acts of worship) is reliant upon the survival of the self.
3)Then the preservation of the lineage is given precedence, because it is for the survival of the self of the child.
Because through the forbiddance of Zina, no mixing of the lineage takes place, so he (i.e. the child) is attributed to (only) one individual, so he (i.e. the father) does diligence in raising him and preserving his (i.e. the child's) self. Otherwise, he (i.e. the child) would be neglected, then his self would be lost due to his inability to preserve it.
4) Then the preservation of the mind is given precedence over the preservation of the wealth, due to the loss of the self through its loss (i.e. if the mind is lost, the
self is essentially gone as well), to the point that the person joins the animals (i.e. meaning that if the person looses his mind, he becomes like an animal in his ability to function, know right from wrong, etc.) and the responsibility falls off of him with its loss.
And from there, with its loss becomes obligatory what is obligatory with the loss of the self, and it is the full blood money (i.e. If someone harms someone else and destroys his mind, he is responsible to pay the full blood money as if he killed the person).
5) Then the preservation of the wealth (comes last)."

We are cut-off from reality

1. UAE built a Hindu temple a year ago.

2. Few days ago they accepted Israel.

3. Bahrain booked a woman for speaking and acting against Shirk.

I was reading the post on Facebook of a Hindu man who is friendly towards Muslims about the Bahrain episode. It is nowhere close to the feelings that we are carrying.

We Muslims are cut-off from ground reality.

We have similar stories here in India, and the pendulum swings both ways, with mazars dedicated to raggedy vagabonds also a big deal in many places.

An Ertugrul Message

The facile entertainment called Ertugrul has a rather serious message for Muslim Ummah.

Sometimes, and these times are the most defining moments in the lives of communities, you have to take significant risk to solve a problem.

In last few decades our youth understood it better than the academicians and intellectuals.

And they lived up to the promise inherent in above realization.
