With the elections announced for July 4th, in the U.K. it is seen as an opportunity for Muslims to send a message to the two main establishment political parties, and to hold them to account for their support for the genocide in GAZA. By supporting independent pro-Palestine candidates.

One of the constituency that was being targeted in order to send that message and where Muslims had a good chance of winning. Is Bethnal Green. The Lawyer Tasnime Akunjee seemed like a strong independent candidate.

But as it happens three other Independent "Pro-Palestine" candidates have also entered the race. Which means the Muslim vote will be split. And no one will beat the incumbent Labour Member Of Parliament.

What can be said. I remember Shaykh Hamza Yusuf, mentioning that there was a protest in Canada back in the 1990's for Iraq.
And a fight interrupted between the Muslims about who was going to lead the protest. This love and desire for leadership and recognition, rather then standing together for mutual benefit seems to be the primary obstacle for us at every level.

In India our current position would have been different had we decided the only criteria for voting a candidate is "his party gives us freedom to practice deen"....... Nothing more, the party's policy on international affairs, our worldly development etc are all secondary.

I request muslims in the west not to repeat the similar mistake.

And our representation in parliament and assemblies is nearing zero, wherever there are 30% or more muslim population, upto 10 muslim candidates are in the fray, we call these candidates from Owaisi and other parties as Vote cutters. "Our bhai is contesting" and every street votes for their bhai.

In the London constituency of Bethnal Green, after much pressure from the Muslim community the two most high profile candidates.
The Lawyer Tasnime Akunjee and the Imam Ajmal Masroor have agreed to work together.
To decide which one of them will stand for election.

Then in some constituencies we have Uncle Jees, who are not fluent in the English language putting their names forward as candidates.

Like this brother here in the video announcing his candidacy youtube.com/shorts/x7nIb38FI0k?feature=shared

For our Uncle Jees please sit this one out and support a local candidate who can communicate well in English and represent our community in the best manner. We are not doubting your sincerity and your concerns for the community. But we need people who are eloquent and articulate and can defend Islam and Muslims in English.

Patel was a decent local councillor with Labour and Conservative, always getting stuck in and funny at times.

I know he is a local legend and by all accounts he is a lovely Brother and that he went viral on social media, with his cleanup in a local park. He should stick to the local community work. That is where he is at his strongest.

National politics is a different ball game to local community politics, it's like going from playing in a field full of weeds, to battling a pit full of snakes.

We need people who know how to deal with the venomous snakes in the media and politics.

Could you imagine Brother Patel in a news studio facing a hostile journalist.

Not only that he would be an easy target for the rightwing press, who already ramble on about immigrants coming to the U.K. not even bothering to learn the English language.

The Unclejee's should use their local influence and back candidates in their communitities who are better qualified, a person should know their limitations and where they can best benefit the community.

I am old enough to remember the 80's and 90's when we would have our elderly Unclejee's appearing Infront of the cameras when the media would turn up speaking with broken English. Not even fully understanding the questions.....! We should be past that era.

I am not sure of the purpose or agenda of some of these candidates. If their objective is purely to send a message to the established political order that the Genocide is a redline, and we will hold them to account at the ballot box. Then they would endorse the candidate that is most likely to win and unseat the incumbent members of Parliament. And represent the community in the best manner.

It seems some of them are just there for the ride, to boost their egos and achieve some bragging rights. Whilst splitting the vote sowing the division. And sending the message to the Political establishment that the Muslims are so divided that no matter what policies you enact, there will be no consequences, the Muslims have saboteurs amongst their ranks, who will sabotage any response from their community.

Then we have deluded and self serving individuals amongst the muslims putting their connections before the collective interest of the community. By still campaigning for Labour.
