Sahih International

Those to whom hypocrites said, “Indeed, the people have gathered against you, so fear them.” But it [merely] increased them in faith, and they said, “Sufficient for us is Allah, and [He is] the best Disposer of affairs.”

Surah Maidah verse 24.

(5:24) Nevertheless they said: 'O Moses! Never shall we enter it as long as they are there. Go forth, then, you and your Lord, and fight, both of you. As for us, we will sit here.'

If we look at the Tafseer of these ayats.

In the first verse posted above the Munafiqeen told the believers enemy is too powerful you are foolish to fight them.

In the second verse after ALLAH and His Messenger Musa promised the Bani Israel victory if they fought, they still refused stating enemies are too powerful you and your ALLAH go and fight them we will sit here.

And ALLAH knows best.
