Assalam Alaikom wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,

I have a Chinese friend interested in Islam, and I went to the mosque and handed her a translation of the noble Qu'ran. Thing is: the language used is archaic, hard to understand and I would imagine harder to connect emotionally and spiritually to it.

Does anyone know of an accessible version of the Qu'ran translated into Chinese?

This would be of GREAT help,
baraka Allahu feekom [:)]

I managed to get hold of a Chinese print free, from the Saudi publications of king fahad. I've given that one to my colleague, but if you ask a shop or online at Darussalam, inshaAllah they will be able to provide one free with shipping.

Thank for you your prompt replies.

The three links you supplied, Jinn, and the King Fahad version are all the same version in Chinese. I believe it is Ma Jian's translation, and from what I understand, it does not do the Qu'ran justice. I got feedback from two persons you said that version had a patronizing tone like a monk teaching his pupils. I am looking for a translation written in Modern Chinese (Mandarin) with clear meaning in order for her to enjoy reading it and find it approachable rather than an obstacle.

Shokran
-Khalid

Did a search and found that "Chinese- Arabic Bilingual Detailed Translation and Annotation of the Holy Qur'an" by Shams Tng Dozhāng is supposed to be a in modern language.

I couldn't find a pdf online. Perhaps you can search in Chinese.

In that case try an Islamic bookstore, many do international shipping as well. You can contact them via email/phone as only they will be able to help you with your specific queries, unless you get lucky and a Chinese brother/sister replies to this thread.

I will do just that, if umar123's suggestion doesn't work. It would be quite fortunate cross a Chinese brother or sister!

Which area are you looking to get this Qur'an.

UK, USA, if you can be a bit precise inshaAllah someone may be able to get more details.

I'll be honest, when I gifted the Quran to my friend, I asked him to read one verse from the Qur'an, so I selected Surah Wal-Asr and asked him to read just the first sentence. SubhanAllah, when he read the first word he spent ages trying explain what just Wal-Asr meant and mentioned that it is to do with time and it has a very detailed meaning. I was really surprised knowing that even the depth of the word was found in the Chinese language.

In the UK. Not sure where to update my location...

They better have depth, what with those thousands of characters! Which version of the translation did you hand your friend?

If my colleague has the Quran in the office, I'll try and get a picture of it.

Since you are in the UK, I'll see if I can get hold of a copy for you. If so, I'll PM you and have it sent inshaAllah

That's alright! That is the copy is handed to my friend, it is also the same one published in Saudi by King Fahad publications.
My friend did say that she preferred this translation: www.gulanjing.com/html/2012-12/1544.html
but i don't know where to get a copy from, and we don't know who the translator is either.
She said the translation by Shams Tng Dozhāng is also good, but no idea where to get that one.
Is there someone you could asked about these? I am looking around myself. I will let you know if I do find it.

Jazak Allahu Khair

Hello again,

She said the translation by Shams Tng Dozhāng was a good one. Do you know where I could get it?

Thank you for your effort
