Asslamo Allaikum,

Brother Khalid Baig on his visit to Johannesburg addressed the South African Ulamah to say that if they want to raise the debate on Television (intellectually) then they must be read Neil Postman.

I'm currently living in student's dorm and live TV-free for 3 years. Never have I felt before such a clarity like this, and I love it. It really feels like a mind detox. Now every time I heard the girls in the dorm turned on their TV for music or soap opera, or when I go home to my family and they turned TV, I'll be very upset just for the noise.

I have read books by 2 motivational speakers, non-muslims both, who encouraged their audience to abandon TV if they want to really develop themselves to a new level. One of them even said "poor people have huge TV" lol. Then I read another from one woman whose blog I stumbled upon, she's a UK woman living in India and basically resembling a Hindu now -- she shared how she abandoned TV and music and encouraged her readers to do the same because "it's mostly negativity and low-vibrational"
