Istighfaar Combined with Asma -al-Husna

This is a simple short Istighfaar formula to attain closeness to Allah and forgiveness of sins. The benefit of this formula is that a person will be able to learn the 99 Names of Allah as well when reciting and also the reciter will become familar with the Jalaali and Jamaali attributes of Allah (Attributes of Majesty and Beauty) thus inculcating the praiseworthy qualities of Fear and Hope in Allah Ta'ala. This increases a persons modesty, shame and remorse in front of Allah which are the essence of repentence and a means of its
acceptance and forgiveness of sins. May Allah be pleased with us and may He accept our repentance and Forgive our sins due to the recitation of these words of Istighfaar

We have included the beneficial 'Istighfaar al Kabir' in the end. This istighfaar was taught to Shaykh Ahmad bin Idris Rahimahullah by Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam and Khidr A.S and is very beneficial. It should be memorised and read daily

Wa alaykum salam

Bismillahi wassalatu wassalamu ala Rasulillah

Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam has said in a hadith: 'Whoever has seen me in a dream, shall see me while awake' - Another hadith states : "He who sees me in a dream has certainly seen me, because Satan can not take my form."

Keeping these ahadith in mind it should be understood that among the saintly ones there are those that see Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam in their dreams and there are also those who have been blessed with the higher stage of seeing him 'yaqazatan' -in their waking state as well. This 'unveiling' also occurs when the hearts and souls have attained a high level of purity. Shaykh Ahmad bin Idris was one such person among millions of others of the ummah of Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam who were blessed with this bounty. Such persons exist even today Alhamdulillah. (for more incidents see Bahjatul Quloob of Shaykh Sufi Iqbal, Rahmatullah Alayhi)

If during the dream or waking state they are given some advice or something to read from the Nabi of Allah than this is guidance especially for them and it is the bounty of Allah. So it is in this state of wakefullness the Shaykh saw Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam.

Volumes of the Shaykhs adhkaar, duas and Salawaat have been preserved till today together with the actual incident which specifically mentions how this particular dhikr was given to the Shaykh. Below is the actual incident as it is recorded in the books about the Shaykh.

Shaykh Ahmad ibn Idris, rahimahullah, had a meeting in the waking state, with the Prophet Muhammad, salla Allahu alayhi wa Alihi wa sallam, and al-Khadir, alayhis salam. The Prophet said to al-Khadir: “Ya Khadir: teach him that which joins together all of the dhikrs, salawat, and prayers for forgiveness of sins, and is superior in reward, larger in number, more exalted in worth, and greater in obtaining assistance.”Al-Khadir, alayhi assalam, said: “What is that, oh Prophet of Allah?”And so the Prophet, alayhi assalatu wassalam, taught him the Idrisi Tahlil, the SalaatAzeemiyya, and the Istighfar al-Kabir. Shaykh Ahmad ibn Idris says: “And so I repeated these after them both and I was clothed in Muhammadan lights and power and was nourished with the divine springs. Then the Prophet, salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam, said to me: ‘Oh Ahmad, you have been given the keys to the heavens and the earth, which are the dhikr, the salaat, and the istighfar. If you say them once, they are equal to the world and what is in it many times over.

This above dhikr is beneficial for all muslims especially those in the Idrisi Tariqa. They should be added to the most virtuous dhikr, which is the dhikr and istighfaar that is mentioned from the blessed lips of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallalalhu alayhi wasallam.

This is a detailed topic regarding subtle sciences of the purity of the heart. The deep knowledge and understanding of this is not with everyone. Those with pure hearts who have been given this bounty from Allah can answer in more detail. For more information and more answers to questions you may have about this topic you may consult the following works:

1. Kitab al-Ibriz min kalam Sayyidi Abdil-'Aziz (al-Dabbagh)” or “Book of Pure Gold from the statements of Sidi Abdul-Aziz

2. Bahjatul Quloob of Shaykh Sufi Iqbal, Rahimahullah, who was one of the Kulafa of Shaykhul Hadith Moulana Muhammad Zakariyya, Rahimahullah. This book is in two volumes and has many incidents of this nature, especially with regards to Hadhrat Shaykhul Hadith Moulana Muhammad Zakariyya and his close associates.

Wassalam
