When we discuss "where is God's help", our tauheed, imaan, tawakkul will not get tested.

When the oppressed get desperate and ask this question, it is a double blow. A blow which is more disastrous than losing freedom.

Anas narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "When Allah wants good for his slave, He hastens his punishment in the world. And when He wants bad for His slave, He withholds his sins from him until he appears before Him on the Day of Judgement."

And with this (same) chain, (it was reported) from the Prophet (ﷺ) who said: "Indeed greater reward comes with greater trial. And indeed, when Allah loves a people He subjects them to trials, so whoever is content, then for him is pleasure, and whoever is discontent, then for him is wrath."

- One of our most prominent operations was an ambush against foot forces southwest of Gaza City last Saturday, where our mujahideen targeted a foot force followed by a Zionist bulldozer with anti-personnel devices, causing certain injuries and hearing the screams of enemy soldiers and their calls for help.

- In another operation on Saturday, Mujahideen in the Al-Tawam area, north of Gaza, targeted a Zionist troop carrier with a Al-Yassin shell, hitting it directly, and three soldiers got out of it. Our Mujahideen attacked them with an anti-personnel missile. They killed some of them, then the Qassam force lay in wait in the vicinity of the operation, waiting for the Zionist rescue force, which had already arrived, and our fighters clashed with them face to face, inflicting a large number of no less than seven dead, and our mujahideen returned to their bases safely.

- Yesterday afternoon, Sunday afternoon, a force from the elite forces of the Al-Qassam Brigades, consisting of 25 mujahideen, was able to carry out an organized attack on the enemy forces that were taking the Rantisi Children’s Hospital as their base after emptying it of patients and displaced people. Mujahideen in the vicinity of the hospital attacked a troop carrier, and at the same time they attacked, with anti-fortification shells and machine guns, a school next to the hospital where a foot force was holed up. Then they destroyed a tank that came to the rescue and a troop carrier that rushed to the place. Our Mujahideen finished off four soldiers who got off the carrier from zero distance, and the Zionist warplanes intervened and bombed the place. One of our mujahideen was martyred while 24 withdrew from their positions safely. We believe that the enemy bombed his forces on the ground, thinking that they were captured in this operation.

- Our Mujahideen have confirmed in many cases in areas of conflict that when the Zionist enemy is unable to withdraw its destroyed or damaged vehicles, it bombs them from the air in an attempt to erase the traces of its disappointment.

- Note that these details are some of the operations that circumstances have allowed to be announced up until this moment, and hundreds of our mujahideen are still in defensive combat positions, especially in all defense and response areas; They carried out many operations that we will reveal later when appropriate security and field conditions are in place.

How the Hamas war wreaked havoc on Israel’s economy

Israel’s central bank said that the war with Hamas is a “major shock” to the economy and has been more expensive than initially estimated.

While Israel is no stranger to conflict and the toll it can take on national morale and the economy, the current Israel-Hamas war — triggered as a result of Hamas’ surprise attack on Israel on Oct. 7 — threatens to severely hamper the country’s finances.

After the Gaza-based militant group killed around 1,200 people and abducted more than 240 others, Israel declared war on Hamas, hammering the enclave with rockets and conducting a ground operation into the territory. Israeli retaliatory bombardment and a subsequent ground operation have left more than 13,000 Palestinians dead. Negotiations for a cease-fire and/or the release of hostages have yet to bear fruit.

Israel meanwhile has called up around 360,000 reservists — around 8% of the Israeli workforce — to assist with the military operation. The reservists tend to be people under the age of 40, in prime employment age. Along with this, around 150,000 people have been evacuated from both the north and south of Israel, most of whom cannot work. Thousands of foreign workers have also left the country. Schools across most of Israel were closed until the end of October and many are still partially functioning, meaning that parents cannot easily go to work.

“Schools are only partially functioning due to teachers being in uniform and shortage of protected spaces in case of rockets, which also has a knock-on effect on parents,” Toby Greene, visiting fellow at the Middle East Center at the London School of Economics, told Al-Monitor.

What are the worst-hit sectors?

All of these factors have caused widespread staff shortages. Jonathan Panikoff, director of the Scowcroft Middle East Security Initiative at the Atlantic Council's Middle East Program, believes the challenges for the Israeli economy will become more acute the longer the war continues.

“Much of Israeli society is on hold as a result of the war effort. And industries like tourism and agriculture have been especially hard hit, with few visitors traveling to Israel and an insufficient number of (guest) workers available to manage the crops,” Panikoff told Al-Monitor.

Construction has also been heavily impacted, as many Palestinian workers make up the workforce. “I'd say the supply chain of the construction industry has also been affected," Dan Catarivas, a senior adviser at the Manufacturers’ Association of Israel and a former director at the Israeli Ministry of Finance, told Al-Monitor.

Although the situation “is becoming a bit better,” he highlighted that Israel relies on some 130,000 Palestinian workers from the West Bank.

“Now the number has drastically fallen because both they don't want to come and, on the other hand, some of the Israelis don't want them to come. And basically, we have to find solutions for those 130,000 Palestinians from the West Bank who used to come to Israel,” Catarivas said.

Israel is also seeing fewer foreign workers as many have evacuated the country. Some of them were kidnapped by Hamas.

“Especially down in the south, where actually they employed Thai and Filipino people on the farms, some of them were abducted and taken hostage and some were killed; some left the country. So we also have a shortage of manpower in the agricultural sector over there. This is a major, major issue now,” Catarivas said. “Also, you have the issue of the tourism industry, which, unfortunately, has been very much hit."

However, he noted that tourism only accounts for between 3 and 4% of Israel’s GDP, despite the industry employing a large number of people.

On Nov. 9, Israel’s central bank governor said that the war with Hamas is a “major shock” to the economy that has been more expensive than initially estimated. Bank of Israel Governor Amir Yaron said during a visit to Washington that Israeli GDP would be lower by 1% in 2023 and 2024, and the debt-to-GDP would rise to 65% in 2024 from “around 60% now.”

Catarivas said this ratio increase was something that could be sustained, but he warned of the drop in private consumption due to the war. On Nov. 14, the Bank of Israel said that Israeli credit card spending was down 9% from its forecast level but was off a low of 20% for the first time after the first three weeks of the conflict.

However, some metrics have actually increased. For example, food consumption has risen because people are accumulating food at home because of the uncertain outcome of the war, he noted.

“On the other hand, when it comes to going to restaurants and spending on other kinds of entertainment, that number has dropped dramatically,” Catarivas said.

Although a particularly large percentage of high-tech workers are under 40 and therefore are of reservist age, many of them are based overseas, so fortunately Israel’s critical sector has not been heavily impacted.

How bad could it get?

An increase in intelligence and military expenses, as well as direct and indirect damage caused by the initial terrorist attack by Hamas on Oct. 7 and further damage caused by missile hits, is causing Israel’s government spending to soar. Meanwhile, consumer spending and investments are down.

As the war rages on and shows no sign of abating, how bad could it get for Israel’s economy as a result of the conflict, which has the potential to spill over to multiple fronts? Omer Moav, professor of economics at the University of Warwick and former head of the advisory board to the Israeli finance minister, told Al-Monitor, “The Israeli economy has strong fundamentals, which implies it would be able to recover and repay the debt over the years, as long as the Israeli government, mainly the prime minister and minister of finance, lead the government in a responsible way. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to be the case.”

Panikoff added that Israeli officials expect the deficit to grow significantly compared to pre-war expectations, but the long-term impact is likely to be a question of how long the conflict lasts.

“A relatively robust economy before the war, including a rather low debt-to-GDP ratio, should help mitigate against an immediate negative economic trajectory. But the Bank of Israel is estimating that the war is costing 6% of GDP weekly (about $600 million), not including a drop in demand and consumption across sectors,” he said.

Dangers of a wider war

Israel is a small country with a population of only around 9.3 million. “The longer the conflict, the more challenging the economic situation, and that of course assumes the conflict remains confined to Gaza. If it spreads to include Hezbollah, which has far more advanced military capabilities capable of striking most of the country, the human and financial costs of the war will skyrocket,” Panikoff added.

Tel Aviv University professor of economics Manuel Trajtenberg told Al-Monitor, “If the ground operation in Gaza will last only a few more weeks, and there is no major confrontation with Hezbollah, then we will suffer from a one-time hit, significant but not dramatic, and the economy will probably recover in one year. Otherwise, the economic impact will be more serious.

Moav added that the conflict reduces the demand for nonessential services, which also contributes to the economic slowdown. The main impact on the economy will stem from the government’s ballooning deficit and resulting rise in public debt, he added.

“The damage to life and property is large, and the costs associated with construction and rehabilitation are high, and the government will compensate businesses and households, not to mention the direct military costs that are very high. Add to that the decline in economic activity and the reduction in tax revenue would lead — according to Treasury officials' estimates — to an accumulated cost of more than 10% of GDP if the war lasts for up to a year and the economy doesn't fall into a deep recession."

Catarivas said that Israeli companies were trying to adjust to the wartime economy, with some bringing back retired workers to help make up for staff losses. When looking at past conflicts, Israel’s economy has managed to rebound in most cases, he said.

Greene added, “Israel’s economy has proven very resilient through COVID and previous conflicts, but in this case, it depends of course on how long it continues, and in the long term on factors including the extent to which government spending has to shift more to defense, and the impact on tourism and investor confidence. This is one of the reasons why the stakes in this war are so high for Israel.”

Israel and its global lobby have no concern for human lives, it could be even lives of their own people.

What hurts them the most is economical/financial loss. The war itself is for economic gains.

While, for the ahle haq there is no loss, either it is غازی or شہید . Momin lives like a traveler, his comforts are in his final destination, the jannah.
