That seemed to put Taliban on the back foot straight away.

The present Taliban regime is heavily reliant on Qatar for funds and reconstruction programmes. I presume any fiery sermons of support would lead to Qatar being pressurised, to cut of funds.

The Taliban are already under sanctions. If Qatari funds are cut off, that could make the population turn against them. And lead to another civil war.

It has been suggested that it is a strategic silence. Offering support and advice behind the scenes whilst not attracting media scrutiny.

Israeli army: 311 soldiers killed since start of the war

At least 311 Israeli soldiers have been killed since the start of the war on 7 October, according to Israeli army spokesperson Daniel Hagari.

Hagari also said that 230 people, civilians and soldiers, are being held hostage in the Gaza Strip.
