Indian Government Launches Formal Study--Are Rising Sudden Cardiac Arrests Linked to the COVID-19 Vaccines?
Dec. 26, 2022
India media reports a growing number of sudden cardiac arrests, including incidence of heart attacks, and the apex research institute seeks to understand why via a study. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has launched an investigation examining cases involving sudden cardiac arrest reports across the world’s second most populous nation and sixth largest economy as measured by gross domestic product. Could these sudden incidences, including deaths, be linked to COVID-19 or the COVID-19 vaccines? ICMR investigators aim to find out with the help of some of the nation’s top cardiologists and other experts from the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). By examining cases, this examination will accumulate data and associated conditions of the deceased in a “verbal autopsy” method of study.
Of course, rampant across social media are explanations for surges of sudden cardiac arrests as a byproduct of mass COVID-19 vaccination, especially with the mRNA vaccines which are known to cause rare side effects such as myocarditis, a cardiovascular-related condition. Other critics of any “anti-vaxx” theories suggest any number of causes are plausible, such as deferred health visits, worsening diets, and stress during the pandemic, or even just other background factors. So, it’s not clear what the cause is of the sudden uptick, and it certainly makes sense for the Indian government to formally investigate. The recent imminent study was reported on by Durgesh Nandan Jah at Times of India.
explanations for the rapid rise in cardiac deaths in patients with COVID-19, yet still many unanswered questions,” said Yeo. “Importantly, our results highlight disparities in mortality that have emerged from the COVID-19 pandemic and that are persisting even through the Omicron era.”

The possible explanations, Yeo said, include that COVID-19 may trigger or accelerate the presentation of preexisting coronary artery disease, even in younger adults.
Reasons for the spike in heart-related conditions could also be related to psychological and social challenges associated with the pandemic, including job loss and other financial pressures that can cause acute or chronic stress leading to cardiac disease.
The research team members say they have long known that infections such as the flu can increase risk for heart disease and heart attack, but the sharp rise in heart attack deaths is like nothing seen before.
“There is something very different about how this virus affects the cardiac risks,” said Susan Cheng, MD, MPH, director of the Institute for Research on Healthy Aging in the Department of Cardiology at the Smidt Heart Institute and senior and co-corresponding author of the study. “The difference is likely due to a combination of stress and inflammation, arising from predisposing factors and the way this virus biologically interacts with the cardiovascular system.”
Yeo, Cheng and the broader Smidt Heart Institute team hope that greater awareness and more research will expand the medical community’s ability to manage and mitigate these risks.
We have witnessed death due to cardiac issues in young unmarried men (our colleague and known young men) this was before vaccines were introduced.
Let us wait for outcome of this study by indian government.

Yes. Let us wait.

"As these cases keep coming; it says the cause of death is unknown. I can tell you, as an expert, I would infer that this is the COVID-19 vaccine until proven otherwise."
