this is quite good

it blocks from the router itself

so any mobile phone/tablet/laptop etc using the router is also restricted

store.opendns.com/get/home-free

categories can be blocked individually

As Salamualaykum wa rahmatullah,

1. For Blocking Major Filth present on the Internet

Use Opendns Family Shield. This is preconfigured filth content blocker and as brother bhai1 said you can set the DNS addresses in the router and it will give content filtering for all the devices which connects to it.

Note: You dont need a opendns account for using Family Shield.

2. Use Firefox addon "Imglikeopera" for blocking images when you are surfing the web.

As for now, there is some tweaking to be done in Firefox browser which is explained in this review.

If you want to toggle between "Load all images mode" and "Dont Load Images" you can do the following...

After tweaking, goto Imglikeopera settings -->Experimental Options-->Switch between policies on button click--> Uncheck the middle two icons.

There is also another addon by the name Procon latte which blocks the user from seeing the contents of the page if it finds any objectionable words on the page.

3. Block Ad Tracking and make the web faster, more private, and more secure by using Firefox addon Disconnect

4. WOT addon for safe browsing.

5. Use Hostman for modifing host file on your pc.

6. Additionally, if you want you can install K9 Web Protection. It will do content filtering irrespective of the browser.
