2.Fadhaa.il Durood, p.109, Incident no (Hikayat) - 46:

Haafidh Abu Na'eem reports from Sufyaan ath-Thawree that: One day I (Sufyaan) was going out when I saw a young man who recited the durood on every step. I asked him, "Does this deed of yours have any basis (or is it just your own action)?" He asked, "Who are you?" I replied, "I am Sufyaan." He then asked, "The Sufyaan of Iraq?" I replied, "Yes." He then asked, "What type of knowledge of Allaah do you have?" I replied, "He takes the night out of the day and day out of the night and creates the face of the infant in the womb." He replied, "Then you don't know anything." I then asked, "How do you know Allaah?, what is this durood of yours?" He replied, "I went along with my mother for Hajj and my mother died there, her face became black and her stomach swelled to which I realised that she had committed some very serious sin. I raised my hands to make du'aa to Allaah when I saw that from the direction of Hijaz a cloud appeared from which emerged a man. He placed his hand on my mother's face and it became enlightened and rubbed his hand over her stomach and the swelling disappeared. I asked him who he was who relieved my mother and I from our difficulties. He replied, "I am your Prophet Muhammad. I then requested him to advise me. He instructed me to send durood (salutations) on him on every step."

P.115, Incident no (Hikayat) - 50, Fadhaa.il Durood (last incident or Hikayat in Fadhaa.il A'maal, Vol.I).

Maulana Jami once set out for Hajj and had the intention to stand near the grave of the Messenger of Allaah and recite poetry over the grave. Upon completion of the Hajj, he set out forMadeenah. The Ameer of Madeenah saw the Prophet in his dream and the Prophet instructed him to prevent Jami from coming to Madeenah. The Ameer tightened security but zeal and "Ishq" (note: the word Ishq is used for that love which is accompanied with lust!) for visiting the Prophet had completely overtaken him and he continued his way to Madeenah. The Ameer again saw the Prophet in his dream and instructed him not to let Jami in. The Ameer scrambled his men and arrested Jami. He was manhandled and thrown into prison. The Ameer then saw the Prophet for the third time and informed the Ameer that he (Jami) is no criminal but he had composed a few lines of poetry which he intended to recite over my grave and had he done so (i.e able to recite the poem over the grave) my hand would have come out of the grave to greet him and this would have caused fitnah. Hence, Jami was taken out of prison with honour and respect bestowed upon him."

Or are these just stories? Random searches just comes up with usually Salafi waffle.

The title of this thread should be changed to "Fazail-e-Durood" because this isn't a Fazail-e-Amaal question!

central-mosque.com/index.php/Civil/tableeghi-jamaat-in-th...

Tableeghi Jamaat: Fazail-e-Amaal (Virtues of Actions), Objection 1: The issue of Fazal-e-Durood (Virtues of Salutations):

Before beginning, lets recall the list of books which are part of Tableeghi Jamaat curriculum:

1 Fazail-e-Amaal (Virtues of Actions), previously called Tableeghi Nissab and consists of:

1 Hikayat-e-Sahabah (Stories of the Sahabah) by Shaykh (Maulana) Muhammad Zakariyya Kandhlawi (RA)

2 Fazail-e-Quran (Virtues of the Quran) by Shaykh (Maulana) Muhammad Zakariyya Kandhlawi (RA)

3 Fazail-e-Namaz (Virtues of Salah) by Shaykh (Maulana) Muhammad Zakariyya Kandhlawi (RA)

4 Fazail-e-Zikr (Virtues of Dhikr) by Shaykh (Maulana) Muhammad Zakariyya Kandhlawi (RA)

5 Fazail-e-Tabligh (Virtues of Tabligh) by Shaykh (Maulana) Muhammad Zakariyya Kandhlawi (RA)

6 Fazail-e-Ramadhan (Virtues of Ramadan) by Shaykh (Maulana) Muhammad Zakariyya Kandhlawi (RA)

7 Musalmano-ki-Maujudah-Pasti-ka-Wahid-Ilaj (Muslim Degeneration and its Only Remedy) by Shaykh (Maulana) Ihtisham ul-Hasan Kandhalwi (RA)

2 Fazail-e-Sadaqaat (Virtues of Charity) by Shaykh (Maulana) Muhammad Zakariyya Kandhlawi (RA)

3 Fazail-e-Hajj (Virtues of Hajj) by Shaykh (Maulana) Muhammad Zakariyya Kandhlawi (RA)

There are numerous youtube videos, blogs and articles devoted to discussing Fazail-e-Durood (Virtues of Salutations), please note that this book although written and authored by Shaykh (Maulana) Muhammad Zakariyya Kandhlawi (RA) actually has nothing to do with Tableeghi Jamaat and those who try to link Tableeghi Jamaat with it actually are displaying their ignorance!

The objections on Fazail-e-Durood (Virtues of Salutations) are separate and distinct and can be discussed elsewhere but they are not pertinent to this subject and thread.

The ignorance of those trying to link Fazal-e-Durood (Virtues of Salutations) with Tableeghi Jamaat should be pointed out and they should be directed to a competent Darul-uloom to send their queries as this is a Deobandi or Tassawuff related issue but not realated to Tableeghi Jamaat and the Jamaat or their Shura shouldn't be made to answer this at all.

Bismillahi Ta'ala,

I have not checked the quotes in their original books, only in Fadha'il Durood. As far as I remember the first one is from Nuzhatul Majalis.

In any case, these hikayat, are incidents mentioned. They can be taken as karamaat of these particular awliya'. The basic rule of karamaat or such information is that we can neither attest their authenticity nor deny it as well. It is well possible that we deny it, and they actually happened. In which case we would be denying without basis. Likewise we may perceive them to be absolute truth, while they may not be. (this excludes those incidents which in essence go contrary to core laws of shar'iyah, like Ghaus Paak snatching souls back from malak al mawt etc..)

What this rule means is that we cannot take these incidents as an evidence or basis for establishing any hukm in our deen. However, they can act as a supplement towards spurring us towards a hukm which is already well established in deen through Dala'il al Shari'iyyah.

In this case, the entire book establishes the hukm of Durood, ruling, and its virtues from Nusoos. These hikayat are mentioned at the end as a supplementary addition to show that the affects of durood are not something far fetched to the times of prophet salallahu alayhi wasallam and sahaba radiallahu anhum, rather incidents of great significance have been reported from times much later as well. The is no denying some incident may happen to you as well should you be sincere and persistant in recital of durood, for the right reasons.

I hope this helps.

Wassalam,

I've a question: Why do we read such stories only in books and why such incidents don't happen to us in real life?

Jazak Allah.

Perception matters.

More so in our times when our mindset and mentality has accustomed ourself to seek rational scientific explanation for things. Tonight you may sit by your bedside and make du'a to Allah to bring barakah and harmony in your life. Tomorrow, your relative who has been suffering from fever may break sweat and break out of that fever. Allah Ta'ala granted your du'a, but every doctor and hakeem will tell you that his medication or the dietary prescription or whatever finally took its course. Our perceptions no longer see hand of Allah being the works behind the actions. Even when we hear about documented super strength miracles, it is often just classified as adrenaline rush giving supernatural strength.

As for clear visual karamat, imagine if someone were to tell you of such a karamat that happened to him, in face. How would you start reacting towards him? Chances are you will classify him into the kookoo register or bragger or liar etc. So most of the times such karamat will not be discussed except in gathering of people who are willing or are mature enough to understand them in their correct restrictive manner.

How if I told you that I have witnessed nothing less than karamah in Mufti Ebrahim Desai. No materialization of things from ghaib or anything, but having worked with him over 7 years, I cannot deny that he has some hidden power behind him at work. He does not tire much in the day. I have given straight 13 hour shifts with him, where he continued on and I had to retire and go home. and at times this would go day after day. I have seen instances with him, where we said there is no way out of the situation, and somehow he would find a way. If at anytime work would present at his desk, while he is about to wrap up, it would mean, extra hours for me because he would make sure that work is finished. Karamah is acts contrary to the ordinary. When I see such inordinary acts from Mufti Ebrahim Saheb, I have to consider them to be atleast closer to karamah.

But if you are looking for flagrant karamah, I would say listen to the details of tableeghi jamat's journeys. You will find many. Although they are not normally talked about but some do mention them.

One question that comes if why would these awliyaa mention their karamat etc. Well, in most cases one of their students would narrate it and not the Sheikh himself. In other cases, they would consider it their duty to inform of the vision of Rasulullah salallahu alayhi wasallam, to their close students. While others would mention ahwal (occurances) to them as a means of teaching or preparing them for what they may face. These are on discretion of these awliya'. In most cases the students would narrate an occurance if there is some moral to be gained from them, like in the case of fadha'il durood.

Asalamualaikum respected Mufti,

Jazak'Allah for the reply. May Allah reward you in abundance and preserve you, Ameen.

I've read your reply, but I personally can't come to accept many of these incidents. The Prophet (SAW) showing in the sky or cloud and placing his hand on a deceased person to purify them? The Prophet's (SAW) hands coming out of the grave?

Do you believe them if you don't mind me asking respected Mufti?

Why can you not accept them??? There are many karamats narrated by students of shaykh ibn taymiyah rh of how shaykh ul islam could read the preserved tablet. I know of 1 person who could read 1000 durood e ebrahim in 15 mins....why can the prophet's hands not come out of the grave??? Blame ibn taymiyah rh for mentioning that imam saeed ibn musayib rh would hear azaan from the grave of Rasulullah sallahualahaahiwaslaam when there was anarcy. These kind of things can happen but as the respected mufti saab above mentions look at the life of somebody like mufti Desai or others...I mean reading about their lives their lives were miracles in themselves.

Brother, until you haven't heard this lecture, you should try not to question the book as much as you/we do

That goes for everyone!

Youtube Video

To be honest, this thread can be locked because this lecture "closes the chapter"

This section doesn't allow discussion.

You may agree, disagree, like or dislike. Rules are rules and they are always being broken. These threads aren't records that need breaking, the only record that is broken is the number of rules that are overlooked/broken.

Why can't we set a new record of the least number days it takes before a rule is broken or a thread is derailed or gets moved to the private section.

Ramadhan not included, since Shaitan will be locked away, but let's start this record after that.
