As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh (Peace, Blessings & Mercy of Allah be upon You).
This issue was deliberated among Scholars of Wifaqul Ulama and The Islamic Council of Europe. The scholars (including Shaykh Dr Haitham Al-Haddad) have reached an agreement and a statement is being issued on the 12th of May 2020 which supersedes all previous statements on the subject.
It is suggested that a minimum of at least two male key workers should perform the sunnah of Itikaf of Ramadhān 1441 for the full 10 days in the local mosque. if not possible, then as a minimum a single key worker should make the intention and perform it.
This cannot be undone and I am sure it will be greatly appreciated.
