I was wondering if any respected brother can share any fatwas which, confirm when it is permissable to seek an opinion of another scholar when another fatwa is going to prove to be detriment to one's personal circumstances.
I'm asking this on behalf of a friend. His situation is that he's been told by a Hanafi Mufti he must leave this role because working for a bank is haram, his salary will also be haram, and he must back the funds he's earned too bit by bit when he can. He's willing to leave as soon as possible, and to enrol for Job Seekers Allowance until he finds another job. He has tawakul in Allah, and feels he'll be fine. I personally think he's nuts.
His wife is threatening to divorce him if he leaves at all because she feels it's not haram because another Hanafi Mufti she knows has confirmed it depends where or which, sector you work in. He works in a section where he educates customers how to use HSBC's online banking and resets passwords etc.
If he decides to go with the other opinion then is he guilty for following his own "desires"?
P.S: I'm posting this here because there is an issue posting threads on the Q /A support forum.
He should ask Darulifta Darululoom Karachi. The email id is daruliftadarululoom @ gmail. com..
If it is urgent, then you can also ask by calling, but I don't know that if they can deal with English calls.

The timings for asking fatawa through telephone is:
10 am to 1 pm morning and 4 pm to 5 pm evening according to Pakistan standard time.
This cannot be undone and I am sure it will be greatly appreciated.
