Milk, a very healthy natural drink, a gift from Allah.

There are plenty of benefits of the different types of milk. Am old but new at the same time is the issue of Camels Milk.

Camels milk has a much greater benefit to us than the other milks as it can cureany illnesses including cancer.

Allah calls upon us to ponder the creation of the camel, as He says (interpretation of the meaning):

"Do they not look at the camels, how they are created?"

[al-Ghaashiyah 88:17]

This pondering is not limited to the outward form of the camel, or even to the inner workings of its body, rather it also includes that which we don't know of.

I am also aware of the Hadith that mentions the urine of the camel, but as far as I know, it was a one off situation and not practiced by any of the Sahaba, Allahu alum.

It would be beneficial if we could understand the pros and cons of the various types of milk available to us. (camel milk is sold in many stores now after its benefits have become known)

Could Milk Be Haram? The Case of Lanolin

www.zamzamacademy.com/2010/09/could-milk-be-haram-the-cas...

Question
The other day a brother mentioned to me an uns
ubstantiated report that the vitamin D added to milk comes from animal sources, and that perhaps we should use non-homogenized milk from health stores (because of lanolin)?

Answered by: Mufti Abdurrahman ibn Yusuf

Assalamu alaykum

In the Name of the Inspirer of truth.

Lanonin is pure and halal. Many text on fiqh mention seven parts of an animal to be haram. The wool or skin are not mentioned as part of these.
(Hashiyah Ibn 'Abidin vol. 6 page. 749]

Besides this, when the rulings of meat are discussed in fiqh texts, the skin of the animal is also mentioned along with meat as a consumable.

And Allah knows best.

Mufti Abdurrahman ibn Yusuf

Milk is a cure for every illness

Question

Please provide a reference for this Hadeeth if it is authentic:

“Drink cow’s milk because it grazes on every type of plant it is a cure for every illness.”

Answer

There are a few Hadiths of this nature recorded in many Hadith collections. One such Hadith is recorded in the Musnad of Imam Abu Hanifah (rahimahullah):

1) Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reported that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“[Drink] cow's milk for it grazes from every type of shrub and is a cure for every illness.”

(Musnad Abi Hanifah; Refer: Al Mawahibul Latifah, Hadith: 443, Mustadrak Hakim, vol. 4 pg. 403. Also see: Musnad Ahmad, vol. 4 pg. 315, Hadith: 18831 and Al Mudawi, Hadith: 2291)

This Hadith has been declared authentic by Imam Ibn Hibban and Imam Hakim. ‘Allamah Dhahabi (rahimahumullah) concurs.

(Sahih Ibn Hibban; Al Ihsan, Hadith: 6075)

2) Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reported that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“Allah has sent down the cure for every disease and there is a cure for all types of diseases in cow’s milk.”

(Mustadrak Hakim, vol. 4 pg. 196. Declared authentic by Imam Hakim and ‘Allamah Dhahabi concurs. Also see: vol. 4 pg. 197)

This Hadith explains that a cow usually eats all types of shrubs/grass which have different characteristics and effects. It will gather the benefit from each type of shrub and the effect will be seen in the milk.

(Faydul Qadir, Hadith: 5555 and 5556)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.

This would depend where they are.

If they are kept in a farm, they are restricted to what is available to them.

Cows that roam the streets freely like in India, then they can and will consume any type of shrub.

There are many plants and shrubs that must be avoided. Some can be very dangerous for the cow, whilst others can cause other minor symptoms.

There is a whole list of plants/trees/shrubs which the cattle should be kept away from. Those who own cattle will be aware of them and keep their cows away from it.

So yes, cows can freely eat what they can

What Plants are Toxic to Cows?

There are a number of toxic plants for cows, so it’s always a good idea to find out which grow in your area and to regularly check for their presence in your pasture. Here are some common plants toxic for cows, so you’ll need to remove these from pastures or anywhere they could have access them: Black locust, Elderberry, Horse chestnut, Oak Wild cherry, chokecherry, Arrowgrass, Bleeding heart, Buttercup Dogbane, Foxglove, Iris, Jimsonweed, Monkshood, Lambs quarters, Lantana Lupine, Larkspur, Locoweed, Mayapple, Milkweed, Nightshades, Pokeweed, Poison hemlock, Water hemlock, Sorghum, Tall fescue, White snakeroot, Any plants that have been over-fertilized with nitrogen

This is probably referring to grass-fed milk. Most of the cow milk available commercially is likely to be not grass-fed.

Problem with that is that those cows are also probably eating lots of garbage on the streets.
