Great info brother.
Even after all this information is shown to the Muslims, most of them don't care and continue to eat this carrion that they call halal.may allah help the ummat to have taqwa.

I thought HFA made an official statement that they have stopped approving all mechanical slaughter ?

Brother Abu Muhammad posted something about this a few weeks back I think.

That's partly correct, brother Daywalk3r posted it, also this thread is much older.

NOTE: HFA's change will not be implemented until after March 2014, until then you still need to be cautious (even after)

HFA's move does not eliminate other abattoirs from mechanical slaughtering, so please be cautious.

My uncle lives in France. He said that there is a mechanical knife with bismillah engraved in it; it cuts the chicken and hence Halal.
I dont know how far its true.

Lol

Another bad one is when people try to justify their eating haraam like McDonalds or something there is doubt in, the reply is ' bro I read Bismilllah', lol as reading Bismillah in the start would automatically make the product halal and therefore consumable lol

السلام عليكم

Aren't there 'old school' poultry shops? I mean the ones where the butcher slaughters the chicken in front of us. Do such shops exist in Uk/Us/Europe?

Back in India, I go the market, most of the butcher shops are halaal (or atleast written halaal), and they slaughter the chicken in front of us. But sometimes the butchers are not Muslims even though its written Halaal. So I usually mention Halaal meat to them, if the butcher isn't Muslim, they ll get a Muslim guy from the next shop (10-12 butcher shops together). Or else I slaughter it myself n they do the skinning n cutting etc.

But in hotels one cannot be too sure if its halaal meat. Some hotels with Muslim owners write halaal to assure us.

Maybe I should become a vegetarian or something. lol. So I ll have the excuse to avoid meat cooked in doubtful places. I should give it a serious thought.

my beloved shaykh (HA) eats mechanical slaughtered meat (and blessed blades tasmiyah etc) so it should be fine. Pls dont question his integrity, hes very god fearing, has many students, hundreds/thousands have changed their life through him and is respected by all.

Salaamualaikum brother

Here in NYC there are plenty of live poultry shops owned and operated by Muslims. It's easy to find halal but I would still recommend that anyone buying from these places to carefully supervise in person the killing because even here in the states the Muslims are careless about saying the tasmiyyah when slaughtering birds and animals.sad but true. It's about money and saving time. Taqwaa is not an issue for some Muslims. If you can't find halal then just abstain from meat and poultry and substitute it with fish until you can find real halal.

I myself wouldn't judge your shaikh or disrespect him but I would have to whole heartedly disagree with his decision on eating mechanically slaughtered meat.the meat is just not suitable for Muslim consumption. No offense or disrespected to your teacher.
