I think I can come to a conclusion now, any meat that is not HMC certified, is not always haram.

I have not seen HMC certified meat in any supermarket. (Update, now available)

May Allah protect us from consuming Haram.

Therefore any meat products sold there will most likely ne Haram.

This is the rule I lived by in the uk.

I didn't eat at families houses nor at weddings.

Research Estimates that 12% ok UK's Halaal Meat is NOT Stunned. SubhanAllah, that means 88% of Halal meat is stunned.

Some Ulama have seen the stun to stun process and had allowed it for chickens (this was a few years ago), but please note, the documentary did not mention mechanical slaughter which is no doubt Haram.

An-Nu'man ibn Bashir, may Allah be pleased with him, reported that he heard
the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say:
"The halal is clear and the haram is clear. But between the two there are
ambiguous matters about which most people have no knowledge. Whoever
exercises caution with regard to what is ambiguous shows prudence in respect
of his deen and his honour he is safeguarded. Whoever gets involved in the
ambiguous things is like a herdsman who grazes his animals near a private
preserve. He is bound to enter it. Every king has a private preserve and the
private preserve of Allah on His earth are the things that He has made
forbidden."

"Yusuf al-Qardawi" wrote:

The following is taken from Yusuf al-Qaradawi's book entitled 'The lawful and prohibited in Islam', Chapter 2 under subsection 'Islamic manner of slaughtering'

Animals Slaughtered By Electric Shock and Other Methods

The second question is this: Is it necessary that the method of slaughter of an animal employed by the People of the Book so that it is halal in their religion be the same as ours, which is to cut the throat? A majority of jurists stipulate this as a condition, while a number of Maliki jurists have ruled that it is not a condition.

Qadi Ibn al-Arab), in explaining the verse of Surah al-Maidah, "The food of those who were given the Scripture is permitted to you," (5:6 (7)) says: This is a decisive proof that the game and food of the People of the Book are among the good things which Allah has allowed for us. He, the Most High, has repeated it twice in order to allay doubts and to seal the mouths of those mischievous objectors, who would raise questions and prolong the discussion. I was asked: 'If a Christian kills a chicken by cutting off its head and then cooks it, is it permissible to eat with him or to partake of his food?' I said: 'Eat it, as this is his food and the food of his priests and monks. Although this is not our way of slaughtering the animal, yet Allah has permitted their food to us unconditionally, and also other things in their religion excepting those which Allah says they have falsified.' Our scholars have said: They give us their women in marriage and it is permissible to engage in sexual intercourse with them. In matters concerning halal and haram, sexual intercourse is of graver import than eating; how then does it make sense to say that their food is not halal?

This is the opinion of Ibn al-Arab). On another occasion he says: "What they eat without intending to make it lawful for eating, as for example by strangling the animal or smashing its head, is haram." There is no contradiction between these two statements of his. What is meant here is that what they consider as religiously lawful to eat is halal for us, even though the method of killing the animal in their religion may be different from ours, and what is not religiously lawful to them is haram for us. What is meant by killing the animal in their religion is killing it with the intention of making it lawful as food according to their religion. This is the opinion of a group of Maliki jurists.

In the light of this ruling, we know that imported meats, such as chicken and canned beef, originating with the People of the Book are halal for us, even though the animal may have been killed by means of electric shock or the like. As long as they consider it lawful in their religion, it is halal for us. This is the application of the above verse from Surah al-Maidah.

SubhanAllah, I agree to disagree, big time!

Here is the final Conversation starting from the bottom.

Jazakallahu khair.

It is very sad that many Muslims do not take their food seriously. They eat with their eyes closed and even when evidence from Quran and Sunnah are provided, they opt for logic.

The same issue with KFC, many many Muslims have boycotted their takeaways because of mechanical/stun slaughter and this will be the same for all those poultry who follow suite.

Since the UK standards allow kosher and halal meat that do not need to meet the regulations, I and millions of other Muslims see no reason why they need to bend the rules. The conclusion would be so that these poultry can sell their products to the halal and non halal market.

It's a business strategy where the seller is in a win win situation, but Alhumdulillah, the Muslims will not sit back but boycott such products.

InshaAllah, the market for Haram meat which is certified as halal will drop dramatically.

I am sure your intentions are pure, but it is sad to say that the Muslim businesses do not care for their faith as the Jewish community does.

May Allah guide us to the straight path and keep our intentions purely for his pleasure and not for gains in the dunya.

Alaikum assalam Abu Mohammed

Each Muslim is encouraged to consult if he finds himself not capable of deciding what to do. We did consult and of course no one is infallible because only Allah (SWT) knows best.

Jazakallahu khair.

I read what their stance is on this form of slaughter, but once again, this not something millions of Muslims accept with their eyes closed.

See the refutation to their findings here;

www.central-mosque.com/index.php/General-Fiqh/meat-of-ahl...

There are millions of Muslims and non Muslims out there who oppose their verdicts and most them are correct to oppose them.

Shukran Abu Mohammed. Please note that we do not operate without specific authority
giving us the green light. Sheikh Yussef Qaradawi (Mufti of Qatar), as well
as the late Sheikh Zaki Badawi and Sheikh Muhammad Hussein Fadlallah have
all allowed us such methods. Of course, the beauty of Islam is that it does
encompass a full spectrum of opinions and there is no compulsion allowed as
at the end of the day only Allah (SWT) knows best.

salaam

the ulama really must do something about this.

the supermarkets that have started selling so called 'halal' meat use muslim staff to make it seem more 'halal'.

i see many muslims buying this meat.

imams should use the jumma talks to educate muslims about this meat and tell them that it is haram.

Assalamu Alaikum

Brother Abu Muhammed - Do you know of any Muslim business that rears its own animals and slaughters them without stunning? Or atleast if they do not rear them but who slaughter correctly.

I have started doubting HMC also since they started to supply Asda.

Jazaakallhu khair.

personally i have no probs eating the stunned chicks certified by Mufti Sacha though would only eat that if non-stunned (not necessarily HMC non-stun) isnt easily available.

i know a few local national supermarkets also use to get HMC meat (from a local wholesale HMC butcher here in Hackney) in their normal fresh meat range though that was a few years back and was impossible to tell unless you knew from inside sources and even then theres no garuntee if was kept separate from the other meats (most likely it was not as the supermarket treated is as normal meat). They probs still do but the wholesale butcher isnt HMC certified anymore.

....imho more appropriate to label such meat as highly questionable rather then out right haraam.

ASDA is NOT...the company that has its own branch/stall within the Bolton ASDA store does. Halal World Centre - which i think is mainly 'certified'  by HFA but this specific branch is HMC certified.

Yes you are correct. My apologies.

It still creates too much doubt for me to buy from them. To be honest even the HMC slaughter process I feel is the lesser of the two evils.

My heart cries out that as Muslims we are unable to make our slaughter totally halal with correct treatment of the animals. Most of the broiler chickens slaughtered in abattoirs have led torrid lives.
