Like you all know, living in the middle east has its benefits but also has its dis-advantages.
Its nice to have masjids every where but you have to put up with the lack of respect for religion and everyones blazaay attitude towards religions. (more over following their nafs/desires)
Anyhoo, the arabs here eat all the animals within the sea including Shark, due to an ayat in the quran that apparently states "everything in the sea is permissable."
So can someone kindly provide me with this ayat? and also clarify if we can eat or why we cannot eat the following items.
Squid.
Shark.
Why are prawn Makhroo?
Lobster.
Mussels.
Is there a size limitation of the fish?
InshaAllah this will serve as dawah and evidence for some good friends of mine for them to stop eating this stuff.

Aslamualykum,
What a great question as this can occur to us muslims minds, Well i did research on GMWA halal food guide and here are my results.
From seafood, only fish is made Halaal for us. Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) said, 'Two carions are made Halaal for us; Fish and locust. ' (Mishkaat vol.2 pg.361).
Fish is classified as a Vertebra. Shrimps and lobsters are not vertebras, hence, not permissible.
Some Ulama are of the opinion that shrimps, etc. are fish, therefore, permissible. Due to the differences of opinion, it is best to adopt Taqwa and abstain from eating shrimps, etc. but they cannot be regarded as swine meat which is expressly Haraam.
This cannot be undone and I am sure it will be greatly appreciated.
