Assalamualaikum,

Apologies if my post is in the wrong thread but I could not figure out how to start a new thread. Please can somebody help me! I thought this thread would be the most relevant place to post my query.

Personally I do not eat from restaurants that serve which advertise their food as halal but also sell alcohol due to what scholars have written and said regarding such places. I was wondering if anyone can post up links of articles/question and answers that are IN URDU explaining this so that I can show it to a brother because he thinks it is wrong that I shop in places like Asda who sell alcohol and then refuse to eat in restaurants that sell alcohol. I try explaining to him that supermarkets are not owned by Muslims so they can more or less sell what they want whereas these restaurants are owned by Muslims so they should not be selling alcohol and by us going there we are kind of showing that it is alright for them to sell it.

Jazakallah

There is a Hadith that mentions something about us not being able to eat where alcohol is served on the same table. (its in the q & a section in an answer by Mufti Yaseen)

I'll need to look deeper into the Urdu bit for you inshaAllah. Or maybe brother Muadh has something that'll help.

Jazakallah for the reply Abu Mohammed, I think I have come across the hadith that you are talking about. I assume it is this one:

 قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ , صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلا يَجْلِسْ عَلَى مَائِدَةٍ يُشْرَبُ عَلَيْهَا الْخَمْرُ

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “He who believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him not sit at a table where liquor is served.”

but then the argument is that alcohol is not being ordered at the table, only food is. I'm sorry if I am sounding awkward but sometimes trying to explain something to some people requires a lot of head banging as they just do not want to listen to what the scholars have said and they will label the scolars as extremists.

P.S. How do I start a new thread?

Go to MuftiSays forum index which can be found at the top of this page,

www.muftisays.com/forums/home.html

Find subsection you would like to start the thread in, and then select New topic from there. (selecting new topic from within a thread hadn't worked for me before, not sure about now)
Hope that helps.

Many of the people in this convo should step back and think. Are we going a bit extreme here? Have we never done anything wrong. Is there any a
Hadees saying you should only eat Hmc food? Any hadees say u should take your families out to eat. If you dont like what goes on in restuarants etc then do something about it by tryingg to speak to the owners etc not sitting babbling on a website. I only came across this as i was googling to find out why HMC has not hit scotland yet

Jazakallah, first of all, we are not extremists either (taken from your name). I do hope you understand that this thread was based on a laypersons opinion, me, which it clearly states above in the title.

Secondly, we will all agree that there are no Hadith for HMC, however the Qur'an and Sunnah do set a guideline for us andhmHMC match it.

Going out to eat etc, yes, this is also not from Hadith but that doesn't make it forbidden.

Back to you first point about the Hadith and HMC, Why are you looking into HMC for Scotland? MashaAllah, there are plenty of beautiful Masjids in Scotland with plenty of Muslims too, so there will most definitely be a halal demand. But again, "Why are looking into HMC Scotland?".

Finally, yes we do take actions! We request for a more halal atmosphere, alhumdulillah many to comply and many already have it place.

Please don't take it this thread wrong, it only started off because of a HMC restaurant that had a Muslim waitress in non Islamic clothes. Very bad for the nafs. We wanted fill our empty stomachs with something halal, not fill our nafs with something haram.

Jazakallahu Khair.

Salam to all , my opinion is if we look for faults in something then therrs 100 of things that we can find so hmc is good for us and our community why? A lot of pfc claim there halal , but if you investigate you find that haram is beining sold hmc is telling us it is 100 percent halal and if some1 then decides to mix it with diffrent haram meat then thats his problem, the individual who decided to do little mix has to answer to allah for feeding haram by decieveing, then if you have dought then dont eat becouse since we have better option for halal food then why not take it ....wassalam

Salaam Brother,
I understand your concerns and issues with these places. I've been in the same position a few times but few short comings I have found with you please allow me to correct.
Firstly, instantly when you enter one of these places and you are not satisfied the first thing I would do is make an exit. For example, you seen the ladies the way they are dressed and the music etc... You shouldn't have stayed there after seeing this the first thing you should've done is leave and find a better place to eat.
Secondly, what I don't understand is why are you looking for a reply from the sisters? Yes in many places they dress bad but you shouldn't be openly looking for a reply from the sisters, this can be a form of free mixing online and especially calling them for an reply. Which is an form of fitna.
Don't take it to heart just an advice from your brother :)

Regards,

Your brother in Islam

Aa, brothers, i came here by accident, but would like to share a comment with muadh khan. What he says about hmc is very true and i agree with him. Hmc needs a new business model. The intension behind hmc is excellent, but the practice is full of flaws. Unfortunately, they cannot fix flaws as its impossible cos of the nature of industry. They need to add the recommendations u suggested. Im an ex hmc worker, and can testify u are 100% correct.

Jazakallah.

Yes Alhumdulillah they have introduced much more since the thread was started.

That comment by me was not about the meat, it was about the whole package. i.e. The drinks, sauces, vinegar and so on including the rest of the unwanted things mentioned. It's a long shot, but it would be nice and I have seen they are working towards a better environment too.
