Halal Food at Millfields Primary School

Salaams.

As a concerned parent, my child has started Millfiled Primary School. I understand that they serve Halal food.

I am pretty sure that a number of people on this website, also have children or relatives who also attend Millfields.

Has anyone check if the Halal food is genuinely Halal, and also that the preperation is accordingly Halal?

I would really appreciate some advice.

Have you tried contacting a member of Staff who is Muslim? Or enquire about who supplies them?

Points to consider,

* what oil they fry in
* seperate frying to non-halal food
* seperate frying utensils
* seperate baking trays to non-halal food
* seperate serving utensils to non-halal food
* supplier of meat
* contamination??

My nephews, younger cousins etc all attend/ed that school. They do not eat the halal food.

But as a muslim whose child does attend the pre-school, nursery, infants or juniors and who would be looking into school dinners, then maybe you should bring it upon you to do the research.
Also, after completing your rersearch, share the conclusion with other muslims.

Try approaching a few people who work their. e.g, the kitchen staff, muslim teachers, head teacger and luch time supervisors. Because everyone may not give you the same answer.

Far as i'm aware most of the Hackney Schools who do claim to serve halal meat are mostly supplied by a firm owned by a Sikh person ( i cant remember the name will let you know later ) who claims to sell halal meat. I know being supplied by a sikh dont mean the meat is haraam as its the meat that needs to be halal not the person selling it (if that makes sense) but helps if its a muslims as only muslims know the true spiritual importance of halal meat with non-muslims its purely tapping into the halal pound.

Speaking with a local scholar in the Leyton/Clapton area who was some months back looking to move the issue on halal foods in hackney schools forward i dont know where he's got to in this - will update as and when i next see him.

My son goes to another school close by which also claims halal but he dont eat it. Even the Veg option i was relunctant at first due to cross-contamination issues - then i walked into their school kitchen and checked things out for myself with the head chef and Nursery Head in towe - personally speaking i was more confident in the veg food after this however others may still be more cautious and opt out of the Veg food completely

Jazzakuallah for your advice.

I have already enquired about the meat supplier, it is a company called WW Meats.

I do not really know much about them, maybe somebody with Halal meat industry knowledge could advise further.

However, the school advised that all the meat is Halal, so there is no question of mixing halal food with non-halal food.

Also Im not sure what oil they use, but I will try and find out after the Xmas holidays.

But if anybody else can help, that would be really appreciated.

Looking further Raj Foods is certified by HFA which in my view is less on the ball then HMC however they also have a Kedessia certifier which does kinda show they are strict in their procedures as Kedassia Boards are extremely very very strict (i think HMC was kinda modelled on them as they had meetings with such Kedassia boards before they started HMC up)
