it would be ace if they are. would also be even better if they also asked them after a while to go HMC also as then they'll have a halal certificate from this country also as well as the one they have at present which i think is from Ireland. yum yum.

Both subways in the shoppung centre and on the high street are halal. Its brilliant. But the high street one is more of a take away stall. Visit the one in the Shopping centre.

just a quick comment. regards halal-ing (new word!) something for others one must know 100% what one has to know/do/inspect to ensure that some place is fully halal. e.g. at the recent HMC events at Upton Lane and Stamford Hill HMC showed what it does to ensure something is halal before they tell the wider uk ummah that such and such is halal.

once they halal something it is monitored each month via unannounced visits to all their certified butchers, takeaways and abattoirs checking all their invoices, stocks and paper work (hence why they only give a 4 week certificate at any one time to each of the HMC certified businesses). Recent incidents have shown some withdrawing their request to be HMC'd after a few months then get caught with HMC'd meat and un-hmc'd meat then tearing HMC tapes off some boxes and putting them on non-HMC boxes.

Even before they do this they vigorously inspect the whole business inside out (kinda like a forensic audit to those of you who understand what that term is) to ensure each and every process is halal and these same processes stay halal also as many will show halal certifying bodies that "look we and are processes are halal" to get certified then kinda relax their halal assurance standards once they are ok'd. You MUST ensure (via very regular unannounced inspections and check on paperwork etc) that their halal assurance measures are the same as they were when they were first inspected and certified as halal on a regular constant basis.

If one eats purely on their own accord that's down to them but if they go and tell others that so and so is halal they must be 100% sure they have inspected that place more stringently then a forensic accountant looking through Anderson Consultings book! (with the right knowledge in what to look for and what to inspect and how often to do this) - if brothers have done this fully and properly and continue to do so on a regular basis then it shouldn't be a problem but if not then they need to before they tell others that so and so in halal.

This Subway branch is certified by a Halal certifying body based in Ireland called Islamic Federation of Ireland IFI www.islaminireland.com/IFI/halalFoodMain.html.

The meat at this subway is sourced from a firm based in Ireland (County Kildare, Ireland) called Dawn Farm Foods. Dawn Farm Foods has a sub halal meat division called Habibi which does halal food for Ireland markets aswell as export to other Muslim countries www.dawnfarms.ie/products_habibi.asp

Dawn Farm Foods has got halal certification from a body called Halal Foods Monitoring HFM which far as i know (i will verify later) is IFI which is the only halal certifying body in the whole of Ireland

IFI halal criteria can be read on their website posted above. They fully allow slaughter of Ahle Kitab (fellow Christians and Jews) and also allow Sunni and Shit'e slaughter if they do not stun. HMC (run partly by our maslak (i.e ahle sunnah wal jamaah) ulama) do not allow Ahle Kitab to slaughter and allow Sunni only.

I'm not saying its totally haraam or halal for that matter but whoever has looked into it from Walthamstow ulama or not i hope have fully investigated Subway Walthamstow inside out before telling the masses its halal and/or allowing leaflets to be distributed outside the masjid.

PS Humble note - i do not respond to posts by sisters - so please dont take offence if i dont directly comment. I ask sisters also do the same regards my posts. Jzk
