Why not make your childrens own food? This is the best option. I have many freinds who do. Their children are healthy and mahs'allah they enjoy their food.

Very true!!

Home cooking is best, but now days alot of mothers or fathers dont have the time to cook and prepare baby food at home.

Let me correct myself breast milk is best!!!!

I think jarred baby food should only be brought as a convience product, until your baby can eat your home cooking. Unfortunately alot of parents still feed their babies jar food even after they are more than 12 months old. Lack of education is the problem.

my parents say there was no babyfood when we were young, we were fed mushed up food from whatever the grown ups were eating, from the age of 1-2 months old, there was no timescale as there is now where we are told babies can only be given food after the age of 3 months.

unless times have changed so much that even parents arent getting time to cook for themselves and are eating out of jars??

Taalibah, I dont think were being feed mushed-up food at 1-2 months? Thats like 4 to 8 weeks after you were born, your belly would struggle to digest bottled milk at that age, let alone food. I think that maybe a bit wrong????

Times have change from when we were small, and life is much faster today (especially in big cities). Thats why we have to have more fiqar about what we eat, and what our children eat. Its so easy to slip up or get complacent, cos we dont have time to cook at home.

In some households buying an evening takeaway is the norm, as opposed to having a home cooked meal. Times are changing.

you are right, i was just sharing views of our respected elders.

nevertheless most children in our household start being given food aswell as mothers milk from the age of 6wks, food meaning a quarter of farleys with a little bit of boiled milk, and they've never had any stomach problems.

and im not ruling out babyfood from jars because as a mother i have also used it in the past for my own children, nevertheless we were always encouraged by elders in the home to liquidise homemade cooked food and give it to the babies, which we did.

by the way the above quote was my (bad) sense of humour.

I did gather that the quote was made in gest.

But it is a true indictment of our times me thinks.

Baby food from tins can be nice even for adults for this reason we should promote our ummah to make our own range and ensure they are hmc approved.

"Petit Gems" halal baby is HMC certified, and made by a muslim company.
