hey while we are still talking on the topic of halaal takeaways in hackney, i was wondering if anybody knew about "SAM's" which is on lower clapton road.

they say it is halaal but they have non-muslims working there.

not too sure but from what i've heard if the takeaway is a franchise it must use the same suppliers as all the other branches, hence, it would not be permissible to eat from such an outlet because as far as i know their suppliers use stunning. however i have heard someone say recently about a dixy near us that it is hmc, im a bit confused on this issue, think only someone running a franchise can clarify this issue.

I went to eat at Mai'da in Bethnal Green Road after hearing about it on here.

The food was nice, the decor and layout is excellent, the service was very good.

It was just me, my wife and baby daughter, yet as they werent too busy they offered me the family room, which is very slick.

We chose the room where you sit on the floor (japanese style, if you know what I mean) and it was great, cos my daughter could run around freely.

Id recommend it.

Believe it or not it was 8pm on Friday.

It maybe that because I originally asked for a baby seat for my 2 yr old, but when I got there, their baby seat was far too small. And the fact that there was no party of 8 that evening.

I also noticed another brother and his wife in the next family room, it was just the two of them (no party of 8 there either.)

Might be worth just turning up.
