Cakes & biscuits in the form of Quran & Ayats written on it – Is this permissible?
Question:
Salaam,
I wanted to ask if the following is permissible or a form of great disrespect as it is cut & then eaten:
1) To make Tasbeeh, Qur’aan, Ka’bah etc. out of icing?
2) To make cakes / biscuits in the form of Quran, bukhari shareef, kabah etc
3) To write hadiths & Quranic ayahs on cakes & biscuits.
Answer:
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
The Quran, Ka’ba, Hadith, and all things related to Deen deserve the utmost respect and reverence. Allah Taala mentions in The Holy Quran:
وَمَنْ يُعَظِّمْ شَعَائِرَ اللَّهِ فَإِنَّهَا مِنْ تَقْوَى الْقُلُوبِ (سورة الحج:32)
Translation: The one who honors the symbols of Allah, then such things emanate from the piety of the hearts.
Baking cakes and biscuits resembling The Quran, Ka’ba, etc. is clearly against the honor of the salient symbols of Deen. Cakes and biscuits are eaten, digested, and become impurities.
Accordingly, it is disrespectful to bake cakes and biscuits in the form of the Quran, Ka’ba, etc., and to write the verses of The Quran and Hadith on cakes and biscuits. Therefore, it is strongly advised that baking, buying, and selling such cakes and biscuits should be avoided.
And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best.
