In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh

Brazil’s Federal Police on March 17 launched the country’s biggest-ever raids as part of a probe of food processors accused of bribing regulators to loosen oversight. A rough scale of this scandal is as follows:
  1. 57 OIC Countries affected, mostly Arab States
  2. $15.88 Billion Dollar of Food
  3. Almost 50% of Saudi Chicken Meat

We advise all Muslims in Britain to read the report and to eat locally (and Islamically) slaughtered meat when travelling. Meat is not a requirement in Islam so while travelling it is not too difficult to avoid (doubtful) meat altogether.

Saudi Arabia halts Brazilian beef and poultry imports over food safety fears

DUBAI: Saudi Arabia has stopped beef and poultry imports from four Brazilian companies over concerns about food safety after accusations that individuals had been bribed to allow sales of rotten and salmonella-tainted meats.

Following a two-year investigation of Brazil’s meatpacking industry, police have accused more than 100 people, mostly health inspectors, of taking bribes for allowing the sale of rancid products, falsifying export documents or failing to inspect meatpacking plants.

“This measure was taken in the interest of citizens’ and residents’ safety,” a statement from the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, carried by Saudi Arabia’s official news agency SPA late on Wednesday, said of the halt to imports.

It listed the affected companies as JJZ Alimentos SA, Frango Dm Industria e Comercio de Alimentos Ltda, Seara Alimentos, a subsidiary of JBS, the world’s biggest meatpacking company, and BRF SA, the world’s biggest poultry exporter.

The companies have denied any wrongdoing and authorities have said that no cases of death or illness have been linked to the tainted meat investigation.

Brazilian beef exports to Saudi Arabia in the first 10 months of 2016 totalled almost 24,000 tons, according to a study by Meat and Livestock Australia, a research service.

Since Brazil meat is cheapest of all imported and local meat (Wataniyah). Majority of tour operators feed the pilgrims Brazil meat. And there is no one or no way we are guided to a eatery where pure halal (sub-continent standards) is served. Mufti Sayeed sab DB jokes, once mufti sab asked the waiter which zabeehah meat is available. He said fish!!! 100% zabeehah??

Why eat meat anyways? Is it part of Hajj? Surely a person can live on Cheese for 3 weeks, it has to be done while backpacking all the time.

Hajj is like a luxury Cruise instead of curbing the Nafs.

Market has produced an entire Business industry where cost cutting is the edge to make profits.

We get the reply from hajees:

1. Do you have better knowledge of deen than scholars in haramain?
2. We have paid full, so need to be served the best. Even the dieting hajees break their diet and eat like there is no tomorrow.
3. Pious hajees tell the tour operator to honor the contract. Since these type of hajees are in majority, he buys low priced meat. So as advised by br Muadh, turn to vegies for a few weeks.

Two things hajees have to learn: 1. food 2. purdah
