MashaAllah you've got it Two sentences or words joint with an Atf consists of Ma'toof 'alayhi which is before the 'Atf and Ma'toof follows the 'Atf. A sentence in this format is jumlah 'aatifah or ma'toofiyyah I'm sure Muadh can provide a more technical definition. if a sentence has more than one atf which is valid in Arabic then each jumlah ma'toofiyyah will be the ma'toof 'alayhi of the proceeding Ma'toof. i hope i didn't just complicate it.

Asslamo Allaikum Maulana,

Masha'Allah you have done a superb job at explaining but I have 1 question. How would you translate the following two (in simple English) for people to understand OR how would you translate it in a way that they can relate to?

  • Matoof
  • Matoof Alihi

Jazakullh Khairun

إنا لله وإنا إليه راجعون
The author of the Madinah Arabic books that are taught in the Islamic University of Madinah's Arabic college has passed on.

What a legacy he leaves. Literally tens of thousands have studied Arabic through his books alone at the Islamic University of Madinah. Add to that thousands of others who have studied it across the globe as well.

May Allah have mercy on him, forgive his sins and grant him jannat ul-Firdous.
