Asslamo Allaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh,

Insha’Allah with the Taufeeq of Allah (SWT) and under the supervision of Maulana Yasin Saheb (HA), we will be starting Arabic Lesson on Muftisays beginning with the Madina Series Books. Book 1 starts the students journey to the Arabic language and at the end of Book 1 you should have enough grounding to understand what you need to do should you progress with your study of the Arabic language.

Maulana Yasin (HA) in addition to supervision will be teaching advanced Arabic grammar when we get to it with the Taufeeq of Allah (SWT).

This course will be concentrating on learning Arabic to gain an understanding into Islamic sciences hence there will not be a lot of emphasis on teaching or developing Arabic conversation.
If you believe that learning Arabic is difficult or requires superhuman effort, this course is not for you.

Each Lesson will be introduced and explained in detail and the students are expected to ask as many questions as possible. There is no such thing as a silly question so there is no need to feel embarrassed, however should you need to maintain privacy you can post your question as a “Guest”.

There is only one pre-requisite to the course:

  1. Ability to read Arabic i.e. the Qur’aan.

If you are slow, it doesn’t matter but you must be able to recognise the letters and attempt to read. Initially you will have difficulty reading without vowel signs but within 2-3 weeks Insha’Allah with the Taufeeq of Allah (SWT) you will have no issues, Insha’Allah

There are only three rules to this course:

  1. Get a paper and write things down and practise and study while writing again and again
  2. When in doubt, ask as many times as you want
  3. NEVER skip the pronunciation of the last letter throughout the course e.g. :

كتابٌ should be pronounced as “Kitabun
الكتابُ should be pronounced as “Al-Kitabu”

If you feel that you are unable to comply with the 3 rules, your Arabic studies won’t get anywhere! AGAIN Violation of Rule 1 & 3 won’t get you ANYTHING!

Insha’Allah due to natural affiliation of every Muslim to the Qur’aan and frequent recitation, you would be used to STOPPING at the last letter and pronouncing it as, this is the issue which won't get you anwhere

كتاب pronouncing as “Kitab”
الكتاب pronouncing as “Al-Kitab”

YOU NEED TO UNLEARN THIS HABIT DURING THIS COURSE IF YOU WANT TO PROCEED!

What will Level 1 Cover?

In Level 1 we will Insha'Allah cover the entire Madina Series Book 1 from cover to cover.

Resources:

  1. Madina Series Book 1 (Text Book) http://www.scribd.com/doc/53862451/Arabic-Course-for-English-Speaking-Students-Book-1
  2. Past Tense: http://www.scribd.com/doc/53862754/Fundamentals-of-Classical-Arabic-Volume-1-Past-Tense
  3. Arabic Key Board: http://www.arabic-keyboard.org/

Homework:

Practise using the keybaord given in Resource 3, type Arabic words and copy/paste into your threads : - )

When do we start:

The first Lesson will be given on Friday the 29th of April 2011, Insha'Allah.

Jazakullah Khairun

Asslamo Allaikum,

I will be posting the Lessons right here on this forum and learners can study by following the Lessons.

All Lessons will be typed in English and all Arabic words will be explained (with translitration and translation). Students can post all questions and answers to the exercises.

There will be no "Audio or Video or face to face contact".

Jazakullah Khairun

Asslamo Allaikum,

The Lessons will be based on some experience with youth whom we teach at our Islamic School (at the local Masjid) ranging from the ages of 10-16 & also conslting Adults on teaching and learning Madina Series Books so we have some ideas on techniques and tools which work and stuff which doesn't work.

There are plenty of Ulama in addition to Maulana Yasin who will be consulted as the course progresses, Insha'Allah.

Asslamo Allaikum,

Insha'Allah with the Taufeeq of Allah (SWT) the introductory Lesson will be here on this forum (Friday) and then every few days a new Lesson will appear until we finish the entire Book 1 (cover to cover).

In the thread of each Lesson all questions will be answered and students will need to do the exercises at the end of Lessons. They can post their work and also ask further questions.

Jazakullah Khairun

Are the books available to buy (Madina series) from Azhar or someone like that.

It has been my ambition to learn arabic all my life. Now that I am closer to the end of it (my life), I would really love to get to speak some of it.

The only Arabic I know is what we learnt at madresa as kids. So I can only read the Quran and not understand it. I only understand the very basic every day words that has something to do with greetings or punishment etc.

lol......i dont know if i should thank you for your kind words and the apparent high regard you have for me or if i should hold you to task for your implied sarcasm!!! probably the latter lol.

anyway i hope you accept me as your student and in return i will honour my teacher by massaging your feet for you and maybe even massage your neck for you albeit with a much much tighter and fuller grip than that used on your feet :P

Asslamo Allaikum,

There are three (3) separate prints of this book in the market and they slightly differ with each other BUT there is no need to buy anything at the moment, please download this book and use it for the course.

Click on the following link and download now:

If a student does want to purchase it then the cheapest is at Azhar Academy (Volume 1), right here:
