I am not sure if your query has been explicitly answered in this book, but it is a must read for anyone who wants to learn about Taqleed and Madhabs.
I recall it touches on a scenario relating to a layman and whether his action has to be repeated if he subsequently find out the ruling he was acting on wasn't valid. It depended on how the laymen came to act on the intial ruling (whether he received a fatwa from a Mufti etc). I can't recall the exact details.

Reading won't permanently resolve the issue but keep trying.

I understand.
I have greatly benefitted over the years from many great books.
They do supplement in the understanding, along with of course learning from scholars. At least in my case.
I have also found that devoting time into learning from books and scholars also open the heart in coming at peace.
