Asslamo Allaikum, Don't really care what he did in his life at this point because Sayyidina Rasul-ullah (Sallallaho Alaihe Wassallam) told us not to talk bad about our dead. He has passed on and let Allah (SWT) judge him and save yourself from disobeying a direct commandment of Sayyidina Rasul-ullah (Sallallaho Alaihe Wassallam.

salaam muadh bhai,

i am not talking ill about the dead. i am just trying to understand why this particular person has been awarded such precaution that was not awarded to the likes of ahmed shah masood who was also a muslim. his death was celebrated by the jihadis/deobandis worldwide and songs were even made and sung in his dishonour, even though he was a hero of the afghan/soviet war. so i was of the mind that even though this particular shaikh was allied with a murderous kafir tyrant, he must have given some extraordinary service to the deen hence the different attitude towards his death. my only sin was to ask a question for which i have been abused and accused of having no shame. prior to this i had never heard of shaikh buti and my interest grew after seeing his name mentioned in numerous forums after his death, and rather than getting information from biased news articles, i thought i might be able to get reliable information from brothers who have already done their research.

khair, the attitude displayed in some of the replies to me are not uncommon and shouldnt have surprised me.

Hmmm!

(off topic)

I must agree with that little statement. Recently "our" attitudes towards scholars, alive/dead and individuals/laypeoplepe have been very disappointing and in "some" cases unislamic.

In the recent days, many of us have broken many rules of the forum and this must stop.

If you have a personal issue or agenda and want to boast/rant/let of steam/expose, whatever the case, then please use the blogs section. That's partially what its there for. (to be used wisely)

Tackling petty or personal issues on a public forum will only go downhill and comments will be made that weren't really meant and the harm done is not eeasily undone. In fact in some cases it may even be too late to even ponder.

Apologies for going off topic, but I think personally this was long due.

btw there is absolutely no need to apologise. it is difficult to understand a persons intention when you are not face to face with them, and after reading some other posts on some other sites regarding the shaikh, i can understand why you reacted as you did.

Asslamo Allaikum,

I am merely talking about leaving the investigations alone and leave his matter to Allah (SWT).

Shaykh Ramadhan Al-Buti (RA) refuted Shaykh Al-Albani (RA) on the issue of Taqleed and they both had massive sparring with each other most of their lives so you have two groups:

  1. Salafees who find something obnoxious to say about him because of his Aacdemic refutations and ignore the balatant Hadeeth of Sayyidina Rasul-ullah (Sallaho Alaihe Wassallam) of leaving the matter of the dead alone. Shaykh Al-Albani (RA) was so sick of him that he made bad-dua for him so Salafees will see his role with the Syrian Regime as a manifestation of Shaykh Al-Albani (RA)'s dua
  2. Non-Salafees (Pro-Madhab) camp loved him to death due to his refutation of Shaykh Al-Albani (RA) and even many Deobandi Scholars who went to Syria studied under him or under his students or met him etc so in his Scholarship (Salafi bashing) they will ignore his role with the Syrian Regime

Muhammad al-Yaqoubi (HA) has claimed that he was about to defect the Syrian regime which he means that he could have made Taubah or forced or coerced to make Taubah and Allah (SWT) knows best.

So its best to leave the issue alone because you will get two different steers from various forums
