Hizbul Istighfaar bi-Asma-illahil Jabbaar – The Litany of Istighfaar combined with the with the Names of Allah, al Jabbaar-The Irresistibly Compelling One
This is a simple and short litany of Istighfaar combined with Asma al Husna. Through it one will become familar with the Jalaali and Jamaali attributes of Allah ﷻ (Attributes of Majesty and Beauty) thus inculcating love for Allah ﷻ and the praiseworthy qualities of fear and hope, modesty, shame and remorse in front of Allah ﷻ. This is the essence of repentence. Rasulullah ﷺ said “If anyone constantly seeks pardon (from Allah), Allah will appoint for him a way out of every distress and a relief from every anxiety, and will provide sustenance for him from where he expects not.” [Abu Dawud].
Allah ﷻ says: And to Allah belong the best names, so invoke Him by them - al-Qur'an. We learn from the hadith that one makes 'Ihsa' (to recite sincerely, learn or memorise) the Asma al Husna will enter Jannah. The muhadditheen have said : There is nothing more effective for
duas to be readily accepted than the Asma al Husna. Whoever recites this Istighfaar will insha Allah experience a special closeness to Allah. It is easy, and it is short and sweet so that one can quickly ponder on the meanings. May Allah accept it. Aameen
