If you google Celtic knot design or even Scottish knot design, you'll see what I meant by 'almost celtic.'

From Wiki

The use of interlace patterns had its origins in the artwork of the late Roman Empire. Knot patterns first appeared in the third and fourth centuries AD and can be seen in Roman floor mosaics of that time. Interesting developments in the artistic use of interlaced knot patterns are found in Byzantine architecture and book illumination, Coptic art, Celtic art, Islamic art, Medieval Russian book illumination, Ethiopian art, and European architecture and book illumination.

Although the Celtic knot has a hint of Paganism in its look, but that's just my thought. Looks very similar to the Islamic Design.

Well I guess we cant all have a re invented wheel. They will always remain round!

The design certainly seems to work for what the architects envisioned - melding cultures.

I think it might be a little less intimidating for non-Muslims to step foot into a mosque that looks like the one in OP than one that reflects other cultures. I've read of non-Muslims turning back (out of anxiety) or hesitating at mosque doors and I just think this one will be more inviting in that sense. Also, perhaps it will attract a more diverse congregation and perhaps more youth will be drawn to it - these also seem to be design considerations. Allahu Alam.

May Allah Ta'aala accept their efforts and make it a means of dawah and success for the community. Ameen.

This is a sign for Qiyamah...

Nowadays even in India village areas, Masjid has A/C with granite/tiles/marbles.
So many artistic works inside masjid. Allahu akbar...

is it beautiful masjid/AC/modern technologies/ceiling lamps/community area/gym/basket ball ground that helps ummah?

A masjid in US used to raise atleast 600K $ every year during Fundraising dinner; but they dont have Imam for last 3 years.

Inna Lillah,

Why is it a sign of Qiyamah?

In the time of the prophet (saw) the Muslims used the Masjid for practically everything, especially schooling and training fighting skills. It's only today that everything but Salaah has become a taboo!

Inna Lillah,

There were times just after the prophet (saw) passed away when the Imam inside Masjid e Nabawi would lead Fajr Salah and be drunk, in fact he would ask the people in a drunk state if he should leadFajr Salah with 4 raka'ah.

Alhumdulillah we as Muslims should be thankful with what we have now, for if we wake up tomorrow, who knows what we will have left. Of course we need to do as much as possible and work for the Deen and make it stronger.

Khair, inshaAllah, Allah give us the strength to overcome such issuesand bbuild more Masajid that get filled too.

The Qadiyaani Missionaries in North Western India (and perhaps elsewhere too) buy out the Imam's of the masjid (pay their salaries) and start their dawah...wait, the salaries range from 4000-5000 Indian Rupees and 1000 british pounds is 99,000 / 1,00,000 Indian rupees, enough to fund these imam's for more than 1 and half years.

Tell these people the above story.

Is a celtic jewish high art looking tile for a masjid more important than saving their own Muslims brothers and sisters from abject outright Kufr?

The Shia's are opening new centres in Dar es Salam, hyderabad, tanzania, dhaka, tajikistan, afghanistan, bishkek, uganda, mozambique etc

Now label me a fanatic.

there were only able to raise 1m because it was done for mosque, i dont think they would have been able to raise 1m if they said they'll be using 0.4m for mosque and remaining 0.6m for education and dawah

Well if he's an architect he probably designs and plans all types of buildings for a living, which are then approved by people who give him ideas on how they prefer design of building inside and out, and then give him approval and pay him for it, architect the issue?
