If you mean by donating, then donations are only given to well deserved posts (not just a user for who they are)

Alhamdulillah, we get to decide what we want to do with reps people have awarded us. If we feel a user deserves donated reps not because of a single post but because, overall, we value their contributions... then alhamdulillah, we get to donate. In fact, we can even donate to so-called 'undeserving' posts too if we wanted to... ultimately they are our reps do do as we please. No matter how many reps there are, they would never be enough to acknowledge many of the members here. I mean, I see those who are active today but there are some posters who don't seem to be very active anymore but their posts are pretty awesome too masha'Allah.

But enough of that. It is a donation - a form of charity. Insha'Allah it is well received. I personally would like to see it anonymous (so the person receiving never knows who it is that gives the reps).

I agree with your last part about anonymous!

But the rest of it I agree and disagree.

There's things such as "friends" who may get them and may well be deserved, but then again it can give the recipient a feeling of being something special and we don't want to give that impression, otherwise, eventually (in my opinion) it could become like "mureed idolizing" similar to "Shaykh Worship"

I would ask admin to get rid of the award feature totally and only give it as an option to authorizers so they can award members where they are acting like authorizers etc.

"Award" is a bounty feature with many uses. Reps belong to the member so the bottom line is pretty much what Acacia mentioned that it's up to the member how they spend it. What may make one person happy to want to award reps may be nothing to every other member.

Features are meant to improve the user experience. Just because it is used differently cannot result in spending so much time removing something which took so much time to create and add. Yes if it's abused, breaks rules or creates any havoc is a different matter but that's not the case. I have to consider the features in its entirety so it's difficult to explain.

For example, mmb786 posted about the smileys and appreciating our rules. Only the mods and those involved will understand and appreciate the gesture resulting in rep awards. Others might see it as normal and no big deal.

I also agree that praise should be anonymous at least.

worked that out only few days ago! click on the member's name...there are options there

Actually I don't really understand the reps...is that the same as the list of "most reputable members"?

Lately there has been a lot of awarding of "like" and "agree" and "winner" and the reps. Its beginning to bother me a bit as well. It was ok when you could just see the likes and thumb-up before but now we can see who gave them. Sorry, admin, I know all this was probably hard work to add but it is beginning to be a bit uncomfortable..i mean I even feel uncomfortable giving them because I know they'll know

Not exactly technical "issues" as such. More like "revamping due to constant complaints" - Awarding reps is also suspended temporarily while I sort this out..

Please see your UCP and click "Calculate" to get a rough idea about the accumulation
