No, not exactly. But it is the nafs that cause it in some way or the other.

The truth is easy to follow by following guidance but there is no compulsion in deen.

Sorry, I must have misunderstood. When you said it wasn't connected to a particular surah, though from a surah other than Nisaa - I thought the meaning was connected but that it wasn't an ayah.

Surah al-Anaam, verse 104: "Verily, proofs have come to you from your Lord, so whosoever sees, will do so for (the good of) his ownself, and whosoever blinds himself, will do so to his own harm, and I (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) am not a watcher over you."

No it's not.

Apologies, but I won't be able to reply all of the time, so I will select "disagree" for wrong answer and like for close answer.

Correct verse will get a winner

Surah al-Maeda, verse 71: (6) They thought there will be no Fitnah (trial or punishment), so they became blind and deaf; after that Allah turned to them (with Forgiveness); yet again many of them became blind and deaf. And Allah is the All-Seer of what they do."

(If it is wrong, please use optimistic instead of disagree... something about that dreadful big red 'X')
