I don't use a tablet. I love the quality of the iPad but honestly think its over priced and very limited to what you can do with it. Its only good for reading and games. You can hardly do anything productive with the iPad. And at the same time, all tablets are more or less the same except for Windows. When it comes to tablets, I'd rather buy the Tab or a Windows tablet. At least with the Windows tablet, one can do the same as a computer using Windows 8.
I have the One X, I gave my Desire S to my son.
Battered? I put a screen protector and gel cover, always. mine is over 2 years old and computer exchange will grade it as an A grade and buy it as brand new.
The one x does what the desire S does, but with a bigger screen and faster processor. That's all really.
But don't get too happy, its only because I will be using it to read the Quran through out Ramadhan on the train and buses as I need my battery life to stay maximum on my excellent android.
Brothers and sisters, please utilize your devices for the good.
There are some excellent apps available for both in the relevant threads.
Don't let your phone or tablet be a witness against you on judgement day. (i think I'll start a new thread on this topic later InshaAllah)
She bought the iPhone in December at an official Apple store and was using the original charger to recharge the phone when the tragedy happened, her sister said.
Mobile phones have a low output of only three to five volts, which is not enough to harm the human body, according to experts.
People will feel an electric shock at about 36 volts.
"However, if the charger or the circuit has a problem, such as a broken wire, it can lead to a shock of 220 volts," a senior physics teacher at a Nanjing high school was quoted as saying.
Presume this would be a possibility with any phone if its faulty and not just iPhone, however it's a concern if ts happened 5 times already, be interesting to know if any of the other phone companies have had similar issues.
Remember in the early days when mobile phones first appeared, it was common to hear of mobile phones blowing up, starting fires etc.
JazakAllah to this thread, got unlimited on everything plan sim, which is really helpful when travelling. Does anyone know if I can tether my laptop to my phone if I do not have access to WiFi, I've heard it is unsafe to do this as your WiFi connection is open to the public?
Tethering is fine and safe since the password will be setup by you and no one can access it unless you give it to them.
Check with your service provider first before tethering because a few years ago some networks charged for tethering even on unlimited tariffs, although they did cancel that rule in their T&C's later. Please double check.
Not all mobile networks allow tethering. It is a tricky situation for the networks, they know that a lot of customers want to tether their phones and only pay for one data connection, but they also want to be able to supply dongles, mobile wifi devices and data sims for tablets and laptops.
O2 and Vodafone allow tethering on all their pay monthly plans at no extra cost which is great for ease of use. The only problem is that in general these two networks tend to have the least generous inclusive data allowances which could easily lead to you exceeding your data limit and incurring high costs.
Three allows tethering but only on their lead tariff 'The One Plan'. The One Plan includes unlimited data allowances so is generally best for medium to heavy users but if you are on a different tariff with Three you won't be able to tether at all.
Orange, T-Mobile, Tesco Mobile and Virgin Mobile don't allow tethering on their contracts so if you are on one of their contracts you will need to consider switching or using an alternative such as a mobile wifi device.
However, some say that the network won't know on the other hand some say that the network can tell when an IP address is changed when assigned to tethering.
My brother is on T-Mobile with 1gb data and tethers when he needs to with no charge.
What you can try before asking your service provider is check the terms and conditions yourself and then try tethering for a short period before the end of your billing date and see if you've been charged.
If you don't get charged but get charged in later bills, you can complain, normally you would het refunded if its a small amount.
I'm on the one plan, so it sounds hopeful, can't get through to customer services, think I've left it too late, InshaAllah will try again when convenient. JazakAllah
If you're on The One Plan you can use the internet when you're out and about with other devices including laptops, tablets and games consoles, just by connecting them through Wi-Fi or USB to your phone. You can tether on all our One Plan tariffs including our one month rolling SIM plan.
There is a separate bolt-on that you can buy if you are one of the other pay monthly plans.
This cannot be undone and I am sure it will be greatly appreciated.
