Here are 2 pictures of a HTC One (M7) that I've used personally and works perfectly fine. the phone belongs to my colleague. Unfortunately, a car had driven over it. But performs perfectly well and is severely battered in comparison to the LG G3

What is Android L?

I've never heard of it.

www.slashgear.com/htc-android-l-for-one-m8-m7-within-90-d...

HTC has already weighed in with a commitment to upgrade its smartphones to Android L, promising an update to the HTC One M8 and last year's One M7 within ninety days of Google handing over the final code. A clear reaction to previous issues HTC had with pushing out timely updates, the new commitment is still somewhat nebulous, since the phone manufacturer doesn't know when Google will actually give it the final Android L build.

That means the three month countdown doesn't actually begin from today, when Google is beginning the Android L Developer Preview.

After getting done with its 2014 and 2013 flagship One family handsets, HTC will turn its attentions to other devices in its range. Exactly which will be covered is unclear at this point: HTC only says it'll be others in the One family and then "select" other phones.

"HTC is excited about the new features in the Android L release and we can't wait to share them with our customers. We are committed to updating our flagship HTC One family as fast as possible as part of our HTC Advantage program. We will begin rolling out updates to the HTC One (M8) and HTC One (M7) worldwide within 90 days of receiving final software from Google, followed shortly thereafter by other One family members and select devices" HTC spokesperson
HTC launched the HTC Advantage program earlier this year, building on a more timely release of OS updates with the addition of six months of screen replacement should it be damaged accidentally.

Meanwhile, Google itself struck back at Apple criticism during WWDC that Android users were suffering from out-of-date phones and insecure software. Rather than focus on core OS version, Google argued, it was more important to look at what percentage of people had the latest Google Play services.

Smart phone entrapment!

all you people with smartphones, think about this,

whoever you are with, apple, google, bb, windows, ubunto, linux......

they have your phone number, they know where you live, where you go, how you travel, which bus you are taking, which train you are waiting for, what you eat, where you eat, who you visit online, who you chat with, your bank details, your personal details, d.o.b, record of every movement, they have everything even your fingerprints!

your whole profile has been created, they know more about you than you know about yourself

the only one thing they don't have is your DNA.

I thought people were going to reply with the reality of life.....

I was expecting replies saying.... so what, we got nothing to hide, you should only be worried if you are guilty......but really response should be....Allah knows every step, breath, thought, anything, DNA is nothing, but we take precautions to not be seen by our smartphones and forget the reality that Allah is watching.

truth is we are guilty, we sin and don't feel shame.

Device charging advised for any UK flightHeathrow departures

The government has not specified which routes will be subject to the new checks

All passengers flying into or out of the UK have been advised to ensure electronic devices in hand luggage are sufficiently charged to be switched on.

The Department for Transport (DfT) said there could be checks "on some routes into or out of the UK" but did not disclose which routes were involved.

The advice is already being applied on some flights from the UK to the US.

The US announced new security measures last week, apparently in response to a terror threat.

American officials ordered some overseas airports with direct flights to the US to intensify screening of electronic devices.

This prompted Heathrow and Manchester airports to advise US-bound passengers to charge electronic devices to be carried as hand baggage before travelling.

British Airways said that customers flying to the United States faced being made to rebook if they were found in possession of an uncharged device.

Alternatively, the airline also said that customers would be able to leave the device behind at an airport if it was unable to charge. They would then be asked to either collect it on their return, or have it forwarded to another address.

'Evolving threat'

The DfT has now issued updated guidelines, saying: "In line with the US advice, passengers on some routes into and out of the UK may now also be required to show that electronic devices in their hand luggage are powered up or face not being allowed to bring the device onto the aircraft.

"Passengers flying into or out of the UK are therefore advised to make sure electronic devices being carried in their hand luggage are charged before they travel."

The department said that "for obvious reasons" it would not elaborate on the routes affected.

"We will work with the aviation industry to minimise disruption as far as possible," said a spokesman.

"The UK has some of the most robust aviation security measures in the world and we will continue to take all the steps necessary to ensure that public safety is maintained."

In a written parliamentary statement, Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin said the country faced "a constantly evolving threat from terrorism".

He said there was no change to the UK terror threat level, which remained at "substantial".

US officials said last week they were aware of a "credible" terrorist threat, but have not linked the security changes to any specific intelligence.

Analysts have suggested the action could be a response to efforts by Islamic militants in Syria and Yemen to build bombs that evade airport security checks.

As well as mobile phones and laptops, the guidance set out by the DfT also includes a range of other electronic devices such as electrical shavers, travel irons, hairdryers, hair-straighteners and cameras or any other camera equipment.

iPhone 6 screen looks like sapphire, says expert who spoke to Apple

Bigger iPhone screen could be made of third-hardest material known, after Apple consulted experts 18 months ago

iPhone 6 is expected to have a 4.7in scratch resistant sapphire crystal screen.

Apple discussed forming screens from super-hard "sapphire glass" 18 months ago with experts in the field, making a sapphire-fronted iPhone 6 highly likely, the Guardian has established.

A video that apparently shows a 4.7in sapphire screen being bent under a foot and resisting attack from a knife and keys "could well be" legitimate, according to Professor Neil Alford of the department of materials at Imperial College, London.

"I think Apple have been quite cunning," Alford told the Guardian. "What I think they've done is make a screen out of sapphire, which is incredibly scratch resistant, incredibly hard and has a high elastic modulus - meaning it's very stiff."

Looks like iPhone have a winner, now all they need is Android :) Well done!

Well I guess its the direction every phone maker will be going into soon. HTC/Apple have their own deal to copy each other. So I guess we'll see it on android too. Mind you the HTC One M8 screen is super strong as we've seen in the video posted earlier.

A big, welcome, long-awaited, about-time change for Google+. You can now use whatever name you want.

We know you've been calling for this change for a while. We know that our names policy has been unclear, and this has led to some unnecessarily difficult experiences for some of our users. For this we apologize, and we hope that today's change is a step toward making Google+ the welcoming and inclusive place that we want it to be. Thank you for expressing your opinions so passionately, and thanks for continuing to make Google+ the thoughtful community that it is.

Urdu is available as an App, but it depends on your handset and software version. I haven't seen it as a language pack unless you flash the phone. I also haven't tried any Urdu apps so I wont be able to comment on them either. Sorry

I'm not into flashing phones, so I wont be able to help you there too.

Calls to Boycott Motorola for helping Israel

Electronics giant Motorola has been targeted by BDS supporters for providing surveillance equipment used around Israeli settlements, along the Israeli-built separation barrier, and along the Israel-Gaza border. In addition, the company signed a $100 million deal with Israel in January 2014 for encrypted smartphones for its soldiers and security personnel
